They are pouring the core and it has to rise higher than the steel to go any further up. They did the steel first, which is extremely rare.

They had to do the steel at the bottom first because of all those huge diagonals. I believe the rest will be done core first.

BTW some buildings have been done steel first all the way up. 1WTC and 4WTC come to mind.

The highly visible engineering concepts employed by this tower are spectacular. This is a rather boring tower from an architectural perspective, but from an engineering perspective it is quite awe-inspiring.

I find the idea of a columless lobby amazing, i don´t know if this was dione before or if this is a first one. I feel like when this ones are said and done people will start to like them and their impact on the skyline will be bigger than we expect it to be. Hopefully the HY will see a very futuristic and revolutionary design for some of the left plots.

From what I can tell the base looks pretty much done, so I'm expecting it to finally continue in the vertical direction soon.

That's the billion dollar question.

The core has just reached one floor above the top of the steel. A little further and they will be able to proceed further with the steel.

Yesterday I went up those stairs in the picture above to the plaza that will connect all the buildings of the Manhattan West complex (It's not open but there was nothing obstructing the stairs so I moseyed on up there)

All in all, with this complex, the Hudson Yards, and the High Line, the far west side is gonna be magical in the next few years. So many cutaways, hidden angles, immaculate public spaces everywhere, retail, restaurants, art pieces and sculptures, open-air halls,... a grand pedestrian experience that is separate from the street grid over a large swath of Manhattan, a world unto its own all in the context of the craziness of the NYC streets adjacent and below.

That terrace isnt that bad, it actually fits the highline a lot, but the building housing said terrace is far away from being considered not bad, let alone nice.

I am actually fascinated by the size of the MW project. It itself is one more city in a city.

I somewhat agree, but consider that it was much, much worse a few years ago

That building looks like a mega building that got defunded and only had it's base constructed.

I think it is. I was inside it about 10 years ago, and the interior was just as abysmal as the exterior.
