Oh, oops, my bad, I was just guess-timating. It's 12 floors but it stands out being right on top of the rails, and the only thing on top of the rails.

Yeah, That was what I was getting into. It has a lot of potential for something sweet.

I agree. It will be gone in 15 years and replaced by a 300m+ tower. Brookfield owns it.

The site is very lucrative given its size and location, the only downside is the cost of having to build a sky-scraper above the tracks as opposed to on terra-firma beside the track as most of the buildings in this area will be.

@ Josh - Great visualization, the NYC skyline will see some major changes in the next decade. I think Manhattan West and 15 Penn are also pretty much sure-shots.

Plus unknowns to the north. This 300m+ cluster is going to make wtc look tame in comparison.
What building is that nearer the empire state building?

Unfortunately, there hasn't been anything new regarding the status of the Penn Plaza approved proposal. Some even have lost hope for the plan to ever kick off, saying most people do not want this built because it's too close to the ESB, being over 1,000ft.

Luckily, no one has said anything about Manhattan west or the Yards maybe because all can agree those old rail yards are a complete dump at this time.

I supported all highrise proposals in the city, especially this one, because we need to get out of the 60's.

15 Penn will be built. Vornado has the right to do so from the City, and therefore, complaints by private parties are irrelevant. Pelli Clark Pelli recently posted photos of this great tower on its website. We've seen the photos before, but they're nice and worth re-posting.

Like Robert said, 15 Penn was approved. It was approved by the City Council by a margin of 47-1. It'll be built eventually, but this will probably be built first.

Hopefully they don't decrease the height of Penn or something cause that will just ruin it. Really can't wait to see hudson yards built and then this! Would you count that as 3 different clusters in New York?

There is zero chance the height of 15 Penn is lowered. Given how much of a public fight it was to get it approved there's no way they go back through that again.

Not sure what you mean by three different clusters but initially these buildings will look pretty far from Midtown, so for a little while there will be Midtown, LM and the Far West Side if that's what you mean.

Eventually the far west side will merge with Midtown, as Midtown is already creeping further and further west, and there are a lot of developments planned for north of where this and Hudson Yards Towers will rise. It'll be just a massive cluster of high rise buildings spanning from the Hudson to the East River.

Actually the Rail Yard is to the right, in front of the ESB. You can tell because in the picture there is a completely dark hole with no lights....

The Hudson Yards are a nice cluster and it wil increase by the time so in the future all the small cluster in NYC will form one gigantic megacluster.
