I suspect that the building boom starting up will be more massive and much longer than the older ones and won't end till NY reaches the 2020s because what's going on at the west side of Manhattan will be u/c until the 20s and while one massive project in NY takes place, others pop up like wildfire. It's simply "in the air!" Developers see other developers building big and tall, and they want a piece too. It won't end till everyone has a shiny, new massive skyscraper.

Hope you're right! But more than quantity once again, quality is what counts so... Let's not be too hasty in wishing for massive buildings.

This tower is really cool, it remind me a bit of the federation tower in moscow.
Another supertall for New York

We really need more super-talls for NYC - seriously !!

Chicago (Chicago Spire) being constructed.
Philadelphia (American Commerce Center) being planned.

Both will be super-talls.

Come on, NYC, you can do it !!

Tishman Speyer Wins Right to Develop Manhattan’s Far West Side!

The Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) announced today that Tishman Speyer Properties, owner of such landmark properties as Rockefeller Center, the Chrysler Building, and the Hearst Building, has won the right to build on the West Side Rail Yards with a $1 billion bid. The 26-acre site located between 30th and 33rd Streets from 10th Avenue to the Hudson, is the largest remaining undeveloped site in Manhattan.

Tishman’s proposal, which is designed by Chicago architect Helmut Jahn and New York-based Cooper Robertson with landscape architect Peter Walker, will bring a taste of Rome to Manhattan, with a masterplan that includes elements that are takes on the Roman forum and the Spanish Steps. The plan calls for five office towers with 8.1 million square feet of space, 3,000 residential units, 13 acres of open space, a new public school and a 200,000 square foot cultural center. As part of the plan, Tishman will preserve the Highline, an elevated disused rail line that runs from Chelsea to Mid-town, which is to be transformed into a linear park.

seems like there will be no Brookfield Towers. Tischman will develop the Hudson Yards instead.

The towers in post #70 will be 2x 900' and 2x 1,100' and they are different from this project.

They will likely change a lot as time passes and with any luck the height will go up too, like with the WTC plans.

As was said on the first page, this thread is for a project by Brookfield Properties, but it doesn't have anything to do with Hudson Yards.

I sure hope so. I loved what Tishman Speyer did with the lanscape and layout, but the designs of the buildings were lacking, to say the least.

The Tishman tower designs are far from final.

Just so no one gets confused, THESE Brookfield towers are still alive. What they proposed for Hudson Yards is dead.

I wonder if there's any preliminary renderings as to what this entire neighborhood, complete with the GiraSole, these Brookfield Towers, the Tishman Speyer Towers, and the new MSG towers will look like. I really hope they all get built, I can't wait to see what the skyline is like with 7 new supertalls right in a cluster.

No one has even tried to do something like that; it's too early. Maybe such a rendering will exist in a year or two. While we wait, we can watch the WTC.
