I used this when making my models. It's the old belly bop design but I assume the current massings are going to have the same footprints.

Thank you. I don't recall seeing that before.

Here's a crummy copy of the 12/4/13 FOX5 piece on MW:

The west facing views for the MW south tower office workers will be epic! Views of the apartments in your face and vice versa for the apartment owners with East facing views. My hope there will be hot gurls living and working in those buildings.

Expected construction start date for MW residential tower is 2015.

Brookfield began working on the platform that will support its 5.4 million-square-foot, mixed-use development in late 2012. The company expects the deck to be completed by the end of 2014, and it plans to begin construction on the residential building in early 2015. The company is waiting to secure an anchor tenant before it begins the office tower.

Since everything is a box, the east side of the residential and west side of the south tower are effectively worthless. Do developers really do this? Surely the designs will be totally different? Stick the residential on top of a wider, shorter south tower seems to be the obvious solution to me.

Is the residential the tall one? I'm not following the project closely

According to that Toronto Globe & Mail article it's a "white-hot market for residential real estate in Manhattan"

They'll probably still start in 2015. They just need to sign a tenant some time this year, which isn't a huge challenge given the significant tightening in the NYC office market recently. Residential doesn't require an anchor, though, so it can always be announced earlier.

We've know that CS was staying at 11 Mad for quite some time. I guess that they've just finally formalized the renewal. In these tough times, companies (and especially banks) are not going for new space (for the most part) unless they get a great deal, which is why Related has been so successful.

True, but I was very surprised to hear CS was even seriously considering Brookfield's MW over Related and Moinian.

We don't know that they were. Most likely. They were dancing with someone else while Sapir watched to ensure that they got a sweetheart deal to stay.

This would make much more sense! It would mean much more views all round, instead of having a supertall right next to it blocking the views of ESB and stuff, which could be a huge selling point

Well before anything gets designed, they gotta build this platform. To that end, it's looking like we may actually see the first span placed this Sunday.

yea I agree. for the longest time I have heard CS to 11 Madison and nothing else. If CS was dancing with someone else to get that deal, Brookfield would be the wrong partner to achieve this. lol.

Pitting Sapir and Related would have been more advantageous in negotiations for CS.

It really is, and it'll be crazy to see the whole thing moving laterally.

It appears we've had some misinformation about Sundays being the only move day. As of this morning, the first completed span has been placed!
