It's not in construction considering it's yet to be approved and there's also no anchor tenants yet. I'm not sure if the subway construction affects this lot or not - I know that's the reason the Girasole is not currently under construction yet (I wouldn't be surprised if they have to wait for them to finish the 34th Street station anyways, though). However, from everything I've heard it sounds like this has a real good chance of being approved as-is and is likely to be built, which is fantastic.

Well they have to start building the platform before they start building the towers.

I like the design, the height, the place.. everything!

I guess it will be very complicated and expensive to build it above those train tracks.

I don't remember this project, and since I haven't heard much about it anyway, I doubt it has much of a future.

The buildings are located so that a relatively small amount of the building is actually located over the tracks.

I don't like the design, I love the look of Midtown and these things are going to throw everthing off balance and stick out like soar thumbs in my opinion

I believe this project is dead. I have not seen anything at all for any provisions for anything like this in the area. Even the much talked about west side yards redevelopment seems to have hit a wall. I say good, last thing we need is buildings over top a massively busy rail yard, those crews and workers need sunlight and ventilation.

Many big cities have buildings on top of massively busy rail yards. Have you ever heard of Grand Central Station also located in New York City? I don't see any problem with building here as long as it's something with a wow factor and not a boring box.

you have to remember they are still working on the yard. so even talking about the projects before its complete is kinda pointless. just wait for the yards to be ready and news will come :]

Brookfield Properties is optimistic that it will start construction within a year on a long-planned, two-tower office development to be built on a platform over the railyards at Ninth Avenue and 33rd Street.

"We are actively wrapping up our planning and will be in a position to begin deck construction late this year or early next," Ric Clark, Brookfield's chief executive, said in an email.
