I just noticed something between the 2 identical towers. Maybe some of you had noticed it, but it’s a new observation by me. Lol.

Other than the height difference the positioning are different. The front of 1 Manhattan West in the picture/model is facing East while what would be the front of 1 Manhattan West is facing North on Tower 2.

The platform continues to extend.

No depiction of a covering over Dyer Ave, unfortunately.

They have built a big boxy structure that runs the length of the launcher. Not sure what it's for...

I was also excited to see this. Maybe they're trying out the reclad?

Heh, yeah, the asymmetrical version has always been like that, although I still haven't decided whether I prefer that to a symmetrical alternative. I guess I haven't committed enough mental energy to deciding because it's always seemed that these are just placeholders.

I'll be honest, I was originally underwhelmed by these towers, given their simplicity compared to the more daring designs coming out of the Hudson Yards. But I think contrasted against the hodgepodge of designs in the Yards, I'd be quite happy if these placeholders turned out to be the final designs.

Hopefully we'll find out whether this is essentially the design very soon.

I think that the opposing beer bellies are interesting. However, I've always been under the impression that the anchor tenant's needs will dictate the design.

Nah, it's not that thread-worthy in my view. Something more high-profile to the skyline would be. Not that I'm stopping anyone here...

It's not even technically even a high rise. it's big with tremendous floor space and high floor plates but I doubt it's more than 300 ft tall. It's going to look really nice though included in some pictures of the overall Manhattan West project Brookfield thread in this area... even better a subject to be included among the buildings discussed in the Hudson Yards megadevelopment project in the regional New York City oriented thread as so many buildings around HY are included along with the main HY developments.

When I was there earlier I was saying that 450W33rd is really an imposing building and made me wonder about the height and you just reminded me to investigate and according to emporis the building is 218' tall.

Wish they just build a tower over it, but glad they are re-cladding that sucker and it will look very nice.

I'm wondering how high Related's retail podium is going to rise between 10 & 30 Hudson Yards. does anyone have any numbers on that? just curious.

The reclad is a 20 year bandaid. 450 W 30th is zoned for a tower of over 2m sf. It will eventually be razed when the area is in its prime.

I don't know about that. The recladding and renovation is a 200 million dollar investment. The floor space and floor plates per floor are huge...the building does appear incomplete on top though, like it could well be the lower foundation of a significant office tower added on as VG alludes. Maybe someday, 20 years like you think, something will happen there but it need not be the razing but the rising of a tower on top of the building. I could be wrong but, 20 years in the future anything can happen.. but adding a tower component seems more practical than tearing such a valuable amount of ready floor plates and square footage down and then build up. I think VG is right here.

$200m over 20 years is nothing. That building 's future is limited.

I doubt if 1095 Avenue of the Americas got a thread for it's massive renovation in 2007.

We had one for the mega-high profile Verizon building at 375 Pearl St. before they scrapped the plans and went data center on us.

Are you insinuating that Brookfield will buy the building at 434 W 33rd St, consolidate the lots and redesign their whole plan?
