Did you not get the email update, Richard? Included 5 or 6 pages of photos. Have to say I thought the progress is a little disappointing, and there seems to be focus on a subsection of the development, unless I am reading it wrong. Lots about blocks A B and C moving forward, but less about D E and F. But good to see crowds of workers and buses, at least. And also good to see roads further forward. With these new hotel developments coming, there will have to be a spurt on the infrastructure, power supplies etc, so can only benefit. Haven't been able to work out where the Crowne Plaza will be located.... which island? Anyone else?

I think that Crowne Plaza is within the Marbella Bay development on the bit before the Real Madrid island. You can see the building on my Al Marjan Island shot on my front page (top right). www.almarjanislandrak.com

Hi mark. Just got the update. I agree disappointing. It doesn't show much progress from eos photos several months ago. Not sure about the internal plastering and plasterboarding - the windows are not in yet. Hope it doesn't rain.

All press releases say it is currently under construction so that narrows the field somewhat. Also the horseshoe shape looks like MB mock ups. But I'm only guessing. www.almarjanislandrak.com

Hi all,
Just learned about a RAK Decree issued in Feb 2012 establishing a judicial committee to deal with real estate disputes in RAK:
“Article 1
A special judicial committee shall be formed in accordance with this Decree of the name “Real Estate and
Rental Dispute Settlement Committee” and it shall have the sole competency of settling all the real estate
disputes and cheques complaints related to the real estate transactions resulting between the real estate
development companies registered in Ras Al-Khaimah and the others.”

http://www.tamimi.com/en/publication...in-the-em.html

Does this mean that disputes with Pacific Limited would now fall under this Committee’s jurisdiction, rather than DIAC?

That's quite interesting, does that mean they could be used to try to pursue a refund of the monies paid above the 30% of purchase price from select?

I nearly bought a couple of these units at launch back in February 2008. That's not far off 5 years ago now. And still seems a long way from completion and handover. Unbelievable really seeing as it's only an 8 storey development. Seems Select have well and truly shafted everybody on this one, probably more so than their other projects. Absolutely disgraceful !

I think someone has themselves an alter ego , or maybe just a dumb blonde.

On second thoughts that's an insult to blondes.

Just got off phone from select and I have the following info which may assist:

1. Sales team have been more focused on dubai and uk
2. Sales to kick off again for pacific later this year , development has around 300 apartments still up for grabs out of 1000
3. 2 further residentail developments preparing ground work as we speak on the islands one of them being santorini island which was stalled as you know but is restarting again
4. No further news on real madris island as delegation is still touting for funds to kick start project as we already know
5. Work commenced on double tree hotel
6. construction pictures due shortly along with update
7. End of 2013 still target completion date as far as select is concerned

Guys does anyboy know the status of santorini island RAK , is it being developed or not , last i heard the developers stallion properties were imprisoned? I know i mentioned above that the selct agent siad construction had started on this , so i delved deeper into this statement. Appreciate thsi is a pacific only thread but all these other developments have a bearing on us as well in my opinion

If you check out the last photos Eos put up here last July, Santorini had been restarted. So unless something has happened since that put them in prison (!), I guess it could have moved on a bit. Also check out the latest on Marbella Bay...http://www.manazil-uae.com/progress.... there's an update from November 2012 which now has a completion date of end Q1 2013, so they will be next probably. They also mention the developments in roads, lighting, electrics etc, and is more recent news than the last Select email.

Went to Al Marjan yesterday (by boat) and took some peeks around Pacific....looks like the concrete shell is just about complete to level 10 (roof top)...but that's about it ---no windows or interior work on any apartment (apart from the show aprtment) yet started. Difficult to say when it will finish as it all depends on if & how quick they decide to ramp up building work. If you imagine how long it will take to complete a building of 1000 aprtments+ from it's concrete shell....you then have its minimum completion date.

Interstingly...I saw a wild desert fox on the island (the first fox I've seen in 9 years living in the UAE)......is this a sign .?????

Was there actually any building activity though.....like builders / workers on site?
