hi ben, maybe a stupid question, but how do you 'upgrade'? do you not have to make a resale and then reinvest, or do you just deal with SP in house and sell back to them?

Vanderlo83- I had reserved a studio and paid my deposit, I then managed to sell my Al Hamra studio, so had some spare cash. I asked if I could change up from my original reservation. This was confirmed by SP and the developer and then I was shown what was still available. I had not signed or returned the initial contracts at that stage..

For info, SP said that the studios and most of the Pacific has been sold, (although my studio must be back on), I also think they will release the next Al Marjan development in the next few weeks as well as the Marina West building in Dubai.

I am a new meber to this great forum....

I have purchased a studio at Pacific, all went well but I had many questions regarding cluase 15 ie. 18 months sunshine period for the developer.

Anyway I ended up signinng the contract but still believe that it is a loss to us if the developer will be late by 18 months.

Can any one here guess how much the profit will be after completion?

kimo - I had a studio in Al Hamra that never got finished and made a small loss, and have a place that I bought off plan and have just taken over and been offered to sell at 100% profit, take your pick??

Has this part of the Marjan Island where Pacific is located actually been built yet ? Latest photo is this one from Soennecken back in February. How about somebody contact SP and ask for an updated aerial photo ??

I think I may be mad but have changed my mind again and now managed to get SP to let me change to Gulf 100% view in Tonga... may need to be on stilt's if they don't get the island out of the sea.. OK, this is it now, just have to find the money??

Gulf Suit? What floor have you chosen? I guess you are going to live in this apartment? Either way I think Pacific is a good investment where-ever you have purchased in the buildings. Ive gone for views too.

Can SP give us any indication on how the island re-clamation is going?

Hmm, I would have thought that ther would be some sort of updates on the master developer website ? Soennecken why dont you jump into that expensive helicopter of yours and take some snaps for us?

Come on guys lets see some action.. what the news, pictures, gossip ext.. How many developments are still to be released on this Island as I have only found around three or four, will there be enough power and building supplies to build this, as most of the other RAK developments have come to a halt , so what is so different about ours.. It does look good in the plan though, (so do concept cars). Small point - the SP film clip shows a type a 2 bed (mine, yipee!!) the ceilings seem very high giving feeling of large open space, do you really think that feature will end up in the finished product?

Why not just start and the beginning, I'm just trying to get us to the next page..

Three years to complete ?? it took that to build my last place in the Marina and that was there to start off with, so i take that with a large pinch of salt/sand..

Look forward to your knowledgeable responce. I have got a bit subdued latley reading the other Al Marjan threads, as they are droning on about beach erosion, sea defences and storm barrios. I mean, I just want to sit on the roof in my trunks.... Ta

Security analysts say the foreign office’s decision to raise the UAE’s terrorism risk to high comes amid increasing intelligence surrounding a potential strike on one of the many western interests in the UAE, from the oil infrastructure to Dubai’s tourist playground.
For years, there have been concerns that this strong US ally could become a target for Islamist extremists, but no attacks of significance have taken place in the UAE, in spite of the arrest of several alleged al-Qaeda operatives.
“We believe terrorists may be planning to carry out attacks in the UAE,” the updated foreign office travel advice says. “We continue to advise a high level of security awareness in public places, but we are not advising a change to travel plans,” an embassy spokesman said. Raising the assessment from general to high puts the UAE in the same risk band as Saudi Arabia and Egypt, both of which have been subject to serious campaigns of terrorist violence.

Dubai_nomad.. Thanks for the PM asking me to remove my thread about the information I posted (re: UK FCO Update) and your view that it would harm possible investment. I take your point that there has been a newly established a link and I will use that going forward, but as some one who has invested most of their life savings in the UAE and in the last two weeks around AED 2,000.000 in Pacific, I think it effects me directly and as such is also fair to encourage the posting of positive and negative information to assist others in decisions that may effect the rest of their lives. I would think the only group of people who would be against that would be those with a vested personal interest in making money from us - is that you?

At this stage of the development which is still in the sales phase; as an INVESTOR you have INVESTED your funds into a development. YOUR INVESTMENT is based on demand for the development and general perception of the development. YOUR INVESTMENT is how you manage it.

You have singled out YOUR investment and bringing negative publicity which I think is not a smart thing to do.

Fair enough tell people about how the risk indicators have changed but why single out one development and put it on development thread. This could be seen as a potentially malicious post. Are you working for another developer?

If you read your PM again, you are right I asked you to move this post to a more genric thread ie UAE thread.
