UAE Threat
I think I am with Ben40 on this, yes the FCO alert did state the UAE in general, however when you have invested a lot of money in a particular development in UAE, then naturally you would be concerned, however it is how you interpret the warning.
Ben 40 was only bringing it to light for anyone who was not aware , personally it does not make a difference to me. |

milktrayman - Thanks for the support, it does not make any different to me either. I am just making a plan to go out to Dubai and RAK for a holiday for a month.. I'm working in place with its own problems and compared with here (Nigeria) or UK / US ext is about the safest place I know. It is just the impact of the information to us, who have not heard it mentioned so much in UAE before..
More to the point has any one got any recent pictures or can at least confirm we have an island yet? |

Not that I am bothered in the slightest about these "warnings" by the FCO. Governments' policies and positions change depending on their particular agenda. Even if the warning is intelligence-based, we all know the quality of the "intelligence" used by governments - (WMD in Iraq one example of it)!!!
However, I agree with 'dubai nomad' that since this is a broader subject concerning the UAE as a whole, then perhaps it should be discussed on a UAE thread or even Dubai or RAK threads, then everyone concerned can have a say. |

when i first read this article my initial reaction was not one of worry at all, but more annoyance. in the uk we are always hearing these kind of warnings, and yes while they should not be ignored, they are nothing new. i have to admit, my take on the matter was more that the UK govt are becoming increasingly worried by the state of the UK economy and are probably seeing lots of money being taken out of UK and pumped into UAE, so this is a just a strategy to scare people and slow down investment in UAE. maybe im being cynical?!
for what its worth, i agree that this should have been posted on a more general thread. but regardless, pacific is great!!

I think this could be a mixure of scare mongering and over cautious intelligence agents. I would be interested to see how advanced Dubai's anti terrorims group are though. Anyway I think this should be brought up in a more generic thread. Back to Pacific!! On paper this looks like a great development! Anynews or photos? this is excellent news, i always thought it was a great development (or i wouldn't have bought here!
), better than the rest on al marjan, and glad it has been recognised as so. this should really promote pacific to those who weren't already aware of it and will generate lots of interest and sales, which can only be good for us investors. i would expect resales to be made a lot easier with better premiums...any thoughts???

For the view, facilities and location this is not a bad buy, especially with the new award that has been given to Pacific. Re-sale market will definitely benefit. I’m holding onto my property so this does not affect me.
In comparison; the developers for Bab Al Badr apartments to a similar, if not more expensive price as Pacific apts. Bab seems to be a great development, however I prefer to hear the swishing of water rather than cars going around around-bout that Bab will be build around (too many arounds??). We also benefit from full uninterpretable view of the gulf sea and have a private beach. IMO Pacific is also aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

About six weeks ago I compared prices and Pacific studios were about the same as those for La Hoya Bay, so I don't think Pacific prices are out of line with anywhere else on the Island. I just fear for the long wait. Anybody have any construction updates for that part of the island where Pacific is to be built ?? Any news from SP as to whether the land has actually been formed yet ??
