The roof set-up is the last stage in the stadium's construction, Oprescu said after checking the stage of works at Lia Manoliu Stadium.

"The last remaining element is the turf arrangement, with its installations. This will happen in May. In August, as I promised, the stadium will be ready. Regardless of the current financial situation, the stadium will be ready on time and the first match, Romania-Argentina, will be held here," Oprescu said.

On February 28, the city's councilors passed the capital's budget for 2011, of 4.5 billion lei, more than one billion smaller than the previous year (5.6 billion). About 50 amendments to the budget came from PDL general councilors. After their amendments were passed, the funds allocated to National Stadium works were cut from 382,857,000 lei to 147,857,000 lei.
