I made a model for google earth. It's really rough, but it shows the general shape of the building and how it will fit in the skyline.

(EDIT: See pics in post #27)

I made all of the buildings in the pic, they are all on google earth if you have downloaded the network link.

I thought this would be the new tallest? It looks good, but I'm not the biggest fan of balconies. From the pictures posted it looks like it will fit in good with the rest of the skyline. I just hope they will move the historic structures to another area instead of tearing them down, I'm not too familiar with the area but if I remember correctly it's not a bad looking block.

Yeah, it's 406' since residential floors can be shorter than commercial. The big blue building is 410'.

The block is not horrible looking. It does have some ugly things, like rite aide and an empty parking lot where another building was demolished.

The render the newspaper was trying to attempt..

Big Blue Brother.. I even modeled some trees

It's a very green building.

Lexington has a very bold skyline.

Over downtown..

Between the towers..

The new main street..

A good mix of old and new..

All available in google earth.

Those are some nice renderings, and the transit center towers will add some more density to the skyline. I am anxiously awaiting the release of their renders

bigwilly..
do you have any links/info, or anything about the transit center towers? All i've heard is that one of the parking garages was designed to handle a ~20 story building on top.

No, I have been gettin my info from Ian. I heard they were two 15 storey towers and i thought i heard they were glass. But im not positive. So if im right then they are two 15 storey glass towers, which would be tight as hell

Yeah the newpaper originally announced it as a new tallest but a couple days later the official heightcame out and it will be 4 feet short of the title.

The Transit Center is cut in two on the High Street side because of the MLK bridge. When it was built it was designed to carry the weight of two 15 story towers (one on either side of MLK) So unless Trammell Crowe is willing to do A LOT if renovation (I mean totally rebuilding the Transit Center's steel super structure we aren't going to see anything over 15 stories on either lot. However I think fifteen stoies will look good there. They'll be the tallest things south of Vine Street if they are in fact the full 15 stories.

As far as their design nothing has been released so any news about glass towers is impossible to confirm at least to the public. If anyone has seen a design they aren't talking officially.

I think the transit center development could potentially be bigger news to the city then CentrePoint seeing as how it will be a TOD (every bus route in the city begins and ends at the transit center).

What's a TOD?

I agree, I would be happy with 15 stories there. It would not match up well with the current linear look with Lexington, and it might be overdoing it a little if they try to build anything much taller than that.

Ian604.. What's a TOD? I'm sure it has something to do with that block being a hub for transportation. What does TOD stand for?
