My Dubai

Here's a few pix I took while being in Dubai

01. Say hi to some of the well know icons of the city. Hi there Burj al Arab

02.

03.

04. ...and of course the Emirates Towers

05.

06. Emirates are along the Sheikh Zayed Road, here seen from a distance. Click for bigger image

07. Distinctive tops of the Rose Tower and the other ones I can't think of the names of them...

08. Another one of them bigguns going up, the Index Tower. Also check out the skyline on that Toyota.

09. Shiekh Zayed Road

10. On the right hand side of the previous image the Burj Dubai development is under construction. The Burj Dubai tower off course being just one of the project in that area. Burj Dubai seen from the Old Town.

11. Girly in the bottom right trying to capture the thing. Really need some wide angles here.

12. Hotel Tower seen from the same spot.

13. Seen straight across from Sheikh Zayed Road, metro line just not blocking the views.

14. One poor little concrete mixer having to go all the way up.

15. From a distance the height of the Burj Dubai is most impressive, especially when there is an almost surrealistic contrast between desert and skyline.

16.

17.

18. Two pics where Burj Dubai can be seen from Sheikh Zayed Road

19. The Index Tower actually blocking a lot of the views here.

20. On tour to the Burj Dubai construction site. Seems to have been some sand storms as of late.

21.

22. It's always a bit hard capturing the height when right in front of it.

23.

24.

25.

26. Typo.

27. The smart thing is that Emaar develops not only the tower but also the whole area surrounding it. All these little towers here can be sold at 'Burj View' premium.

28.

29. From concrete onto steel.

30. Apartment at the sales center on a scale of 1:1. This one is located on the 60th floor and was sold for app. $2.5m. Now it is reselling at $5m. So that equals $2.5m / (365 x 3) = $2.283 value raise per day.

31. Probably one of the best spots is the terrace of the sales center.

32. Onto Marina / Jumeirah Beach / Lakes area. About three years ago I had one of these 'yeah right' moments when I was told that this empty land would count loads of skyscrapers in three years. Now it looks like this.

33.

34. The slender one in the middle will be dwarfed by a couple or so in the next few years.

35. Some towers in Dubai have a nice style to it, especially some curved ones. Some don't. behold these double Chrysler buildings. They really shouldn't be doing that, they don't need to either.

36. How tall will this one be?

37. Let's zoom in some of that

38.

39.

40. "objects in the mirror are taller then they appear".

^ we (me and Altin) drove up to the Palm Jumeirah as far as one can. I was amazed by the size of the palm for it seems quite slim from above.

Reading the comments of each picture made me somehow feel the experience of being there. Thank you

Now I want to go to Dubai more than ever, but I'll wait for many projects to be completed.

I looooooved the commentary on each photo. It was the best part of this thread.

Once again, not sure where all the folks are coming from to occupy all this vertical space being built, but just amazing to look at.

I'm amazed. How beautiful it is. Unbelievable.
These are the kind of pictures we need to see to appreciate real Dubai Beauty. Those Panoramics we're used to have don't allow to see it.
