Why isn't anyone commenting on this thread? parts of damascus remind me of egypt, parts of baghdad, and parts of turkey.
Any pix of old damascus?

LOL @ bcuz_we_can@msn.com. What's that add for?

I probably should of added a more attractive title for this thread ? I'll see what I can dig up on older images of Damascus.

Shame, I'd would've been happy if a few of the people here were able to see the images.

Thanks Storm Shadow, I also enjoyed all wonderful pics you posted in SSC Africa

Damascus is very touristy and I had intention to couple my previous visit to Egypt with Syria and Lebanon but buses were overbooked at the time.

So Damascus is Damsheik in Arabic ? ( I can read the Arabic letters ).

What a gorgeous setting on the slopy foothill of great mountains, reminds me of Beirut.

In Bosnian it's Šam (Sham) for Damascus and the region in general. Though, it's a bit archaic..

I found SSC by googling for Damascus photos. My favorite city in the Mideast. Wonderful photos Storm, those of Baghdad and Muscat too.

Syrians call Damascus Sham or Ash-sham
historically Ash-sham used to refer what we call them now Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine

I see them. Either you travel too much, or you just do a good job of finding good photos of cities without much coverage online to us.

Thanks. I wish I had the time and economy to travel to many places frequently. I just enjoy geography and learning about other cities.
