Why do Skscapers and bridges collapse?

Hi, I'm doing a research paper on why skyscrapers and bridges collapse. What besides natural disasters are some causes? For example, many buildings collapse because builders hold back on reinforcements to save money. Any feedback or information would be great, thanks!
