Amsterdam Zuid (South)

Yesterday (2008/03/08) I walked from the new Zuidas area to the historic center of Amsterdam, this is a selection of the photos I took.

1. The "Zuidas" the new business district currently under construction.

2. High density.

3. self portrait

4. It was windy and cold around the new buildings

5. The Minervalaan

6. With it's villa's in total contrast with the new buildings close by.

8. Looking back #1

9. The Zuider Amstelkanaal, a rowing crew that didn't do to good judging by the screams.

10. Going to Oud Zuid (Old South)

11. Looking back #2

12. Minervasquare

13. typical houses for the area

15. details

17. Amsterdam Hilton

18. Looking back #3

19. the Noorder Amstelkanaal

20. The Lairesse Street

21. The area becomes older and wealthier

22. We're even the sign of the biggest supermarket chain in Holland is in gold

25. Street scenes

29. Pyramid's in the distance

30. And I end with the place to be in Amsterdam Zuid, the most exclusive shopping street in Amsterdam. The Pieter Cornelisz Hooftstraat or just the "PC" like the shoppers usually call it.

31. With de PC Hooft tractors, our name for the Chelsea tractors/SUV's

32. But you're more trendy with a scooter like this

33. Or a nice car, that also attracts a different kind of public.

34. Anyone interested in opening a shop, business is good?

35. Pieter Cornelisz Hooft

^ Ya, I didn't want to say it but these pics were making me think of some British cities in general. I like how clean and tidy it looks. So if I got off the metro station with the same name I would encounter this? I'll be in Amsterdam this month.
