What do people think of the inevitable salience of a project this tall in Paris?

Personally the silhouette of the second render seems to compliment the lesser buildings around it. I think with aesthetics, incorporation with the urban habitat is extremely vital. The Burj Dubai looks so outstanding, I believe, because it stands alone, whereas a tower like the Sears Tower I think suits well to sit among giants. This building I think plays the role in a more "Sears Tower" situation, where the design should not be execrably modernistic just to make a statement: as such the first design would be a grave aesthetic mistake for Paris as a supertall, it sits better horizontally, like the Centre Georges Pompidou.

They're both architectural disasters.

Need to say that those two towers above will never be Tour Signal.
We will know the 5 finalists design today.

Densaga, I don't think that it was a good idea to post these pictures.

Come on guys, there is a reason that these two were refused. Obviously the people in charge thought they were crap too, so it's hardly a reflection of Paris, just of the architects. I look forward to seeing the ACTUAL proposals today, and then we can make proper judgment.

Thanks Newcastle Guy.
Densaga has forgotten to say that this tower would have office and housing.

The threet best candidates could build their tower in La Defense, only one would be tour Signal but three could be constructed.
We should also say that the Russian Hermanitage compagny want absolutely build a 300m tower in la Defense.

Manuelle Gautrand looks ok but the samyn and partners proposal wouldn't fit in La Defense
