I'm glad it's NOT Libeskind. These deconstructivist buildings dont look good on such a large scale IMO. Highrises should have a simple basic shape like a box, cylinder etc

I usually like Nouvel, but I think his proposal for Signal was the worst out of the 5.

I was really hoping Wilmotte would win.

I hate Wilmotte. That's not an architect. Holl is the one responsible for this project.

I agree that I was not a fan of Wilmotte project but why Nouvel ?
It is the most unifinished project, the few renders that we have are really bad, the integration with the Esplanade don't look good.

what a SHAME.

It was the WORST of all the projects. A f**** ugly and boxy tower which is stuck in the past , in the 70s with few trees around to look like "ecological building".

I am very very disappointed. Foster or Libeskind deserved to win .Nouvel was choised because he win the Pritzker Price .

I'm going to break something.

A boxy tower was the best way to face the organic look of Phare.
The Nouvel tower don't show right now all the details. At night the light effects will be great and the interior concept of Nouvel is just great. It changes of the vacuity of the other proposal towers (except Foster).
A good concept is better than an empty seductive render.

Foster's tower could be built, his project was excluded of the contest because it's a destruction reconstruction project but this tower was appreciated by the jury.

I hope the giant screen will be included.
If it's not, this tower will be quite bland.

The least we can say is that between Phare and Signal there will be quite particular skyscrapers in LD. We'll have to see how it will be once finished.

I think it will not, the concept of the top part is a big open atrium with one side missing and flats in the remaining 3 sides (with windows opening on the garden/atrium).

So it was either this or the screen, don't think both are possible

Nouvel tower may even ends more stubtle (providing it is detailed and not flanked by the atrocious video wall at the top) than Phare which is really trying too much to grab attention.

Wilmotte and Libeskind's towers were awful projects, bling-bling architecture at its worst.
Foster and Nouvel were the only ones deserving to win. I would have prefered Foster to grab the porject, but I am very satisfied with Nouvel's proposal, which is classy, sober and may end up being much more sophisticated than expected.

I hope so. I liked Foster's project, more specifically the atrium which is a bit similar to his Swiss Re atrium but on a grander scale.
