These is an amaizing interior but Nouvel should win the nobel prize as well as the pritzker because on the pic just before the last one he invented floating stares.

I disagree, he didn't invent them, he's just an illusionist

No more absurdly shaped scrapers with hellish interiors in La Defense. Save Paris from Dr Evil! Nouvel is a lunatik he should be deported. How can anyone like this monstrosity?

La Defense is being ruined, it's embarrassing. First the hairy curved banana shaped thing (is that going to be built?) and now this amazingly unoriginal giant cube which looks like a gateway to hell. These two really need be scrapped they're gonna spoil Paris. The only hope is that the authorities intervene and restrict the abilities of the nerds to build sci-fi bullshit everywhere.

Paris doesn't need supertalls, no european city does. Why are 'we' trying to catch up with the rest of the world in its monotiny when we've got wonders of architecture which show hundreds of years of culture and civilisation.

because we have to give to the next generation our hundreds of years of culture, plus one , we have to let something behind us, that's the reason why mankind is on earth, saying "we were here one day"... hopefully we still do it today, and in Europe too

Still no reason to build 300m Asian styles. If there's a shortage of office space then build another business area further away from Paris, or invest more in Lyon and Marseille. There's nothing Parisian about these things, the architects and planners have got their heads up their backsides.

I think the Nouvel scheme will be fantastic. The simplist of things are often the best. I feel Nouvel definitely has the capacity to pull it off amazingly. Look at the Arab institute- fantastic detailing and thinking years ahead of its time, I feel this tower will benefit from a similar attention to detail.

Exactly. Each new period of history needs its own landmarks and architectural styles to define it. In the same way that the Eiffel Tower defined the 19th century, these new skyscrapers will symbolise the 21st, and will become the "future heritage" of Paris.

Paris has loads of different styles. There's nothing "Asian" about 300m skyscrapers. They're an American architectural innovation that has now gone global. Paris's new towers are in the same international styles that are found all over the world. And so they should be. We live in a world of globalised culture and an effort to build a "Parisian" skyscraper would be the height of fakery. What do you want exactly? A skyscraper with a mansard roof? Little baroque or gothic flourishes? How fake! La Defense is already outside the historic city core of Paris. It's already a modernist zone so why not continue to add to that? Having said all that, I nonetheless think they chose the wrong design here. I much preferred the Foster spiral. But in any case that's a modernist design too so it doesn't change the point I'm making. It's your arguments and reasoning that I profoundly disagree with.

Incredible, a post of Langur where I fully agree with everything, especially the quoted sentence.
