Those projects are unfortunately not accepted

Height was ~ 310m for Libeskind and ~440m for DgLa .

it is not a shoes box!! It's boxy, yes, but i like it. The tower is perfect next to the Grande Arche!

I think that the design of the atrium/video screens are an interesting concept, but I will have to see more renders. The ones out right now really don't do the design any kind of justice.

Exactly!

I wonder, though, how the elevators would be configured, what with those enormous atria. Do they go deep enough into the building to prevent a central service core? Perhaps, then, would there be two cores along the opposite non-atrium sides?

If you check youtube you'll find videos that show there will be two "cores" on each sides

Press release
Immediate release 8 October 2009

Paris La Défense goes on the attack

French Deputy Prime Minister promotes major project aiming to be new European commercial capital

French Deputy Prime Minister Patrick Devedjian provided some Gallic flair to the last day of Cityscape Dubai 2009, delivering a half-hour presentation on Paris La Defense, which aims to become the new commercial capital of Europe.

The centrally located project, comprising a mixture of renovations and new builds, plans to develop 3.2 million square metres of office space within 15 striking towers ranging between 35 and 301 metres high.
The €33 billion all-encompassing development targets banking, financial, energy and insurance companies as well as hotels, universities, schools and research centres, housing up to 20,000 residents upon completion.

Minister Devedjian said €23 million of funding had been secured in 10 months and he was confident the financial crisis would not impact the project, which was launched in 2006.

“The crisis has given us the opportunity to create a new financial city which will serve as the new commercial capital of Europe – this is our ambition,” he said, surrounded by delegates on the Paris La Defense stand. “For the first time in France, towers will integrate a mix of functions.”

Leading architects such as Tom Mayne, Norman Foster and Jean Nouvel are on board and the towers are being designed to LEED, BREEAM and HQE standards. The 301-metre Tour Signal, Tour Phare and Tour Generali (both 300 metres) are among the most striking towers, and the 343-room Hotel Radisson will also make an eye-catching landmark.

Welcoming the minister, Chris Speller, Group Director, Cityscape, said: “Monsieur Devedjian’s visit to support the launch of Paris La Défense here not only underscores the huge investment potential in the region, but also the brand value of Cityscape Dubai.”

The new-look district will enjoy excellent transport links, with the Champs Elysees five minutes away by Metro or express train, and convenient access to international rail networks, Roissy-Charles de Gaulle and Orly Airports.

Earlier in the day, Minister Devedjian met Abdulla Mohammed Al Awar, Chief Executive Officer of DIFC Authority.

If it is going to be a cube, then it better be interesting. And I am currently not impressed.

Some will love it and some will hate it no-matter what it looks like simply because you can't please all of the people all of the time. Lets see how it goes..

Hopefully Signal will never be accepted. If it is and is built it will ruin the balance of La Defence . It will be a disaster for for the whole architectural image of France.

Nouvel's tower looks ******* awful, like something out of a 1980s sci-fi film. It has no place in any self-respecting city 21st century - let alone Paris!

Death to Signal! Retirement for Nouvel!

As time goes by, I agree more and more.Af first I liked Nouvel's Signal Tower which I thought was innovative, but I've changed my mind lately, afterwards I think it's too bulky and cold.

Also, given the current economic situation the french architect has been struggling for months now to find some news investors.

Icing on the cake, some female deputy which always said she hated his project, was elected today as the new "EPAD" president(EPAD= Établissement public pour l'aménagement de la région de la Défense)which is not good news at all for Nouvel and his tower.I'm afraid (for him) that his project is very likely to be cancelled in the next few months(just like his former project Tour sans fins,425m,had been over a decade ago.)

If so,I do hope they will end up giving a second chance to the unlucky finalists of the Signal Tower contest such as that of Daniel Libeskind which was wicked or that of DGla,very interesting as well.

Only time will tell,so, wait & see...

Bye.

Nouvel should retire. His style is outdated and his projects becoming more and more surreal and unrealistic.
