What a ridiculous location. The design ain't very beautiful either, rather awkward.

They've started demolishing the existing building.

The design itself it good, BUT the location couldnīt be worse. Put it somewhere near the Anara tower, in approximation to the tallest block!

Are they really going to build this on that spot!? Why in front of the 2 Al Fattan Towers!!! That's the worst thing they could do...

Strange design, and a rather odd location for it.

How many times do I have to say that the location is just terrible! As I said last year... make an Island for this tower like Burj Al Arab and put it there... basically a bridge extending into the water with the tower on the island. Would be much better, both as location and reputation!

Are any of these guys reading this site? If so please take our advice!

thats bad marketing to have such a nice rendering of another building in the background that takes most all the attention from the proposed project

That design is so unique, and I love it... but, I agree it doesn't fit the background. This type of building belongs to an area that doesn't have anything around it. It looks like a sculpture; imagine it in a museum: Nothing would fit properly around it, except a blank negative-space background.

This one will spoil the whole beach there. Agree with an BAA like setting on an island. Already the 40 Floor JBR looks like a "Berlin Wall"...
If this one goes ahead other will follow. Look at the Ritz-Carlton beautiful setting and very nice, though low-rise, building.

I'm sure there is more room between the JBR towers and the beachfront than one would think but I wonder if this tower has a similar footprint compared to the hotel that is being demolished?

Is there any chance they could build this and extend a portion of the beach out further to give the coastline more space?

Dubai can shape islands - I'm sure they could adjust a beachfront if they really wanted.

The image above of the newest design is pretty close to the water though so guess that's how they want it done. I'll chime in and also agree that it seems like it is too big for such a congested area. Decent building but wrong place! It would seem that something so much larger than any of those JBR towers needs a peninsula or some seperation from the rest of the development.

Every other major development seems to have some space between it and the rest of the towers and whether there are trees or a canal or something, there is a distinct barrier to seperate things. This seems to have none.

It might be obvious but are they tearing down the cream tan-colored hotel right in front of the Al Fattan towers or that T-shaped blue-glassed one that's a little further down the coast? Sometimes the images and renders are approximations so as stupid as it is to ask, I'm curious.

I like the building. And since I'm not living behind it, there nothing wrong with the location. I'm sure the towers behind it blocked someone else view, now it's being done to them isn't life a bitch.
