twiz i think that big black arrow was adman pointing out to some folks where he goes to get the best pics of the waterfront, ie seacombe ferry. Brilliant idea for a thread

I'm so jealous of stuff like this (lots of tallish - well, for the time - victorian blocks in a high density grid pattern). Its what make Manchester feel so large I reckon. Sheffield has absolutely nothing like this.

I guess it's quite a bit down to the industry at the time they were built. Mills needed building like those (yeah, I know they're not all mills or whatever), and little mesters needed crumbling little two storey houses

Also I guess there's the whole wealth thing

There's some pics of Sheffield from atop the Arts Tower. I'll try and find them.

oops im sorry. the ariel mast on bridgewaterplace doesnt actually exist, it was added on with photoshop, but I cant find the original photo.

Otherwise, its a smashing photo. It would be nice to see some similar pics of sheffield, of nightime clusters of talls densley packed into a small perspective. I love pics like that

It's barely recognisable as Bridgewater Place. (I didn't realise that's what it was), and no the photo isn't good. It's a low quality badly taken photo showing a few blobs with lights.

And I never even mentioned another city in my post, so don't try and turn this into another 'the world vs. leeds' thread.

Edit: It's gonna get even denser, with a 17 storey office tower (68m) u/c at the moment, and hopefully to start this year a 27 storey resi tower and a ~29 storey resi tower all in that picture.
