Tallest residential buildings before Lake Point Tower?

hi, im just compiling info for a chronological diagram for worlds tallest residential towers. Im bit confused before chicagos Lake point towers which were worlds tallest in 1968 at 70st/197m.
was 1000 lake shore ever tallest units in 1964? or marina city also in 1964 at 179m?
what about before 1960s? did HK have a worlds tallest? or where they based in US cities.?
im trying to use emporis tools tond out but its slow and hard to work out when a bldg qualifies, as it has to be atleast 90% residential.
any help really appreciate
cheers

I can say with reasonable certainty that HK residential towers definitely did not rise above 180m before the 1960s.

Jardine House (178.5m) was completed in the 1970s and was at the time the tallest building in Hong Kong (and pretty sure Asia).

well ive done some more research. alot of highrise apartments in nYC like Downtown athletic club is residential BUT top 15fl was hotel and bottom 10fl were club.
liberty tower (1910) was originally office. this is what i found with alot. most are converted. hard to find an ORIGINAL apartment tower. even park row (once wTB in 1899 ) was office.
So far the only apartment tower which has been its use from original construction in 1931 is the 27storey/122m/400ft San Remo twins in NYC
So what you reckon? where these the worlds tallest resi at one stage?

Trump Tower in NY east side was tallest for a short while ? Guess you knew that already...This sign on the ground floor hoarding during construction back in July 2000 was pretty happy about the fact!...I knew the Eureka Tower here in Melbourne was soon to surpass that..yet forgot about the prong on Q1...didn't I......PS...Just realised I didn't read thread right....sorry....I have some old books with earlier history so I will try and add some correct info.....I still liked this sign

Well I was referring to your question about HK, since Jardine House was the tallest, there cannot be any tower, residential or otherwise, taller than it before 1973, which means there's almost no chance for HK to have held the title before 1973 since Chicago has the Lake Point towers in 1968

^thanks.
over next few weeks ill draw up the worlds tallest chronologically-tallest residential tower. ill add in 414m princess tower and Chicagos Spire as next candidates after current holder-322m Q1. I dont think 395m 23marina or 517m Pentomium will figure in equation?

^great shots. i love its slimness. the only thing i find negative about TWT is that it looks like your typical office tower NOT residential. wheres the balconies? lol

I was going to mention Tregunter 3 in Hong Kong which was briefly the world's tallest residential before being surpassed by Trump World Tower. But it seems you already know.

Isn't The Burj Dubai suppose to be part condo?

Anyway, I gotta give credit to Highcliff and Summit right near Jardines Lookout. They may not be the tallest residential towers but there is no place on earth where you can find supertalls on top of a hillslope

^to qualify as an-all residential tower, you have to consist of atleast 90% residential use. no hotel or office.
Burj Dubai is mixed use. it has 40 hotel floors, 40 residential, 40 office ect.

yes i mention these two towers in first post.

emporis is incorrect at saying Marina city was completed in 1962. It was 1964.
maybe tower 1 was topped out in 62?

they look like chimneys when uc in 1961

Wow, that's a cool pic of Marina City under construction. Look how few highrises were around them at that time.

Here is my favorite photo of TWT that I took from Long Island City.
