Polish developers Ghelamco Poland have had plans to build a 220m tall skyscraper finally approved by the powers that be called the Warsaw Spire.

Originally to be the Art Park development the original proposal was refused for various reasons but with a few revisions to the plans the new project named the Warsaw Spire should be springing forth from the ground sometime this year.

Located in the centre of the Polish capital the tower is designed by renowned architects Jaspers Eyers & Partners, who are Belgian but can be forgiven for that seeing as the design of the tower is rather nice.

Oval in shape, the tower will sport a curvaceous look. A glass façade wraps itself around the tower almost like a cloak that flares out slightly from the tower at the peak. Down the centre of the towers front balconies protrude breaking what would otherwise be a sheer shape. At its top of course will sit a rather sizeable spire, hence its name.

The tower will provided 60,000 square m of top-class office space, as well as a wide range of amenities including cafes, restaurants, an entire shop dedicated to wine for those liquid business lunches and of course shops.

Outside the tower a small park with a pond will surround the tower giving ample space to go for a wander and relax in, greenery also features on the ground floor for those who dont want to walk all that far.

The building will also have an underground garage for 1,500 cars. Its location puts it next to many of the important financial institutions in the city and handy for visiting business men it's next door neighbour will be the Hilton Hotel, though other hotels are available for those who have slightly stingy bosses.

All being well the tower should be complete somewhere in 2011.

well it still shows that in the future this street will rival Emili Plater in terms of skyscrapers and should look amazing... We just have to wait for the official presentation and the timetable and it can start..

I would rather see Zlota Tower going up. This one looks nice, though.

It's not U/C yet so this thread needs to be moved to the proposed skyscrapers section..

I hope it's kind of joke only and I propose to set this building somewhere in Asia, capital of Poland deserves much more than just corny architecture, especially near the downtown. I'm convinced classical or simple design would match just better in that area.

A bit reworked visualisation.

I still don't like it. Doesn't fit city, feels somehow Asian. But maybe it's matter of taste.

It does at first look seem more like a design for Kuwait City or Doha...but it could still work.

EDIT: There's been nothing of news on this for over a year...I forgot to look at the previous post dates. Too many of these threads clutter up the board.

There are a lot of news about new towers in Warsaw, there is real skyscraper boom in Warsaw, and these are not only empty declarations, but real dates and permissions from city council. Next year will change many things Hines Tower [160m] starts, maybe Zlota44 [192m] will be resumed, propably also this ugly penis will start (but I still hope it won't). And remember it's "proposed skyscrapers" section.

This tower looks great, some of you guys are a getting a little too boxy-obsessed. I mean sure Warsaw has a certain understated boxy Euro style look, but this is still reasonably conservative, a curve here or there won't hurt to break things up a bit!

I think this will look fantastic, love the white accents and the glass looks quality.
