Really excited for the Enbankment project to be completed. I don't know whether it's been mentioned before - and it's only just struck me - but both the buildings have a striking resemblance to the Express Building on Great Ancoats Street.

Which, coincidentally, is a building that Norman Foster was very fond of in his youth...

Same here Pep, the last 5 years in Salford have been phenomenal, it's really starting to gain an identity of its own now, a part of Manchester which feels big enough to be a major city on its own.

Mosley Street office revamp passed

Planning permission has been granted by Manchester City Council for London-based investor and developer Boultbee Brooks Real Estate to create a single office block combining 67-75 Mosley Street.

The 66,047 sq ft development is being project managed by OBI Property and designed by PRP. The application brings the two buildings together into one address, 75 Mosley Street. Access to the offices will be via a new central reception and a new 7,189 sq ft seventh floor will span both buildings, with a small terrace.

At ground level, the Bank of China occupies 2,788 sq ft at 67 Mosley Street and will remain; BBRE has also recently secured a new lease to China Visa Services which is set to take the adjacent 2,549 sq ft unit fronting Mosley Street. Two new retail/leisure spaces of 3,512 sq ft and 4,081 sq ft will be created on the Nicholas Street side of 75 Mosley Street, facing the art gallery.

The East Wing, formerly 73 Mosley Street, will comprise 17,050 sq ft over five floors. There will be 35,401 sq ft over seven floors in the West Wing, at 75 Mosley Street.

The exterior of 73 Mosley Street will be removed and replaced with a new anthracite zinc façade and will include floor to ceiling height windows while the original Portland Stone exterior of 75 Mosley Street will be fully repaired and restored.

Zerum provided planning advice, the other design team members alongside PRP are: structural engineers Tier Consult; services engineers Red Engineering and Stephen Levrant Heritage Architecture.

Work is due to start on site in autumn 2016 and complete for summer 2017.

XYZ Building | Spinningfields
Offices | City Zone

Thread: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showth...#post123638093

  • Address: Hardman Boulevard, Spinningfields, City Zone Manchester M3

  • Architect: Cartwright Pickard

  • Floors: 9

  • Office Space: 160,000sqft

  • Developer: Allied London

Current status: Under Construction

Nearest transport: Salford Central

New renders have been released for some of the internal spaces of XYZ.

XYZ Vault designs unveiled
Place NW: https://www.placenorthwest.co.uk/new....V01AypAn.dpuf

Quote:
New images have been released showing the proposed designs for the 20,000 sq ft first floor aimed at financial technology startups and innovators at Allied London’s Spinningfields.

Allied’s latest concept for its Manchester development is a co-working centre which encourages mingling and collaboration at the 160,000 sq ft XYZ building, due to open towards the end of 2016.

Chris Reay, Spinningfields estate director, commented: “Spinningfields has disrupted Manchester’s traditional commercial core and has become a place where leading corporate institutions are clustered, from the main banks to newer organisations such as Worldpay. Where XYZ differs is that we’re delivering a culture, a brand more than a building, a structure with its own personality. We believe this is the ideal platform for fintech. We’re opening doors for tech entrepreneurs to collaborate and tap into support from the existing corporate environment and learn first-hand, from leaders in their field.”

Reay said The Vault will differ from the average tech co-working hangout by offering greater security, careful selection criteria and a supportive community all within the surroundings of a uniquely designed enterprise platform.

Allied has secured sponsorship from a number of financial and professional firms for the Vault, with details due to be announced shortly.

The XYZ building is fully let to Global Radio, Shoosmiths and NCC Group. Allied London will be the tenant on the fintech floor. The building was sold to German fund Union Investment for £85m in March 2016.

As well as offices there will be independent coffee shops, a restaurant by Drake & Morgan and meeting and event spaces.

So many of the design elements remind me of failed 60's architecture, maybe they will look better with more expensive materials than concrete, but i am not a fan of this brutalist style.

Ive got to say how great it is to see so many exciting other projects in Manchester, and nice to see investment in public realm.
