Couldn't agree more. Can't believe we haven't moved on from this in architecture.

The only thing that gives it away is the path of the tram tracks and the small bit of Aytoun St courts that you can see through the office buildings (I work in one of those office buildings by the way! )

Update by AC1.

Considering there was literally nothing in this area of town just 2 years ago (except surface car parks and some dodgy rail viaduct underpasses) the transformation is nothing short of incredible:

Planning Application Submitted.

Screen grabbed various documents.

First one shows previous proposals that never saw the light of day.

Interesting explanation as to why Assembly wasn't taken forward.

Plenty of info on the Terracotta tiles.

Plenty of renders.

Link to the full planning application plus Design and Access Statement at the bottom of the next post.

21 screen grabs in total. Split them up over 2 posts. Click on the link below for all the information and other renders..

Good to see most of these tall projects are located in either the city zone and salford/quays, instead of being spread sparsely in many locations, it means Manchester will soon have a dense coherent skyline in the centre and dense clusters in salford/quays, can't wait to see how it will look in a few years, with Liverpool doing the same with its waterfront skyline, will be a great image makeover for our northern cities, next up...birmingham

Cursed site fo sho.

Considering putting Axis "on hold" because this is going to halt construction for at least a few weeks while they figure out what to do.... potentially may have to put another planning application in for a retaining wall, which will take two months at least to design/approve/build.

Anyway, someone's screwed up big time somewhere down the line.... let's just be thankful the crane didn't fall into the pit - that could've been really awful, particularly with a busy street and Metro station close by...

I just walked passed. Lots of men in blue tshirts pointing but the debris seemed largely cleared already. I can imagine they're desperately trying to avoid any more delays!

Manchester University Business School Hotel

Currently 6th floor? Another 13 floors to go? Stand corrected.

Note Cambridge Street further down the Road. and the 3 Circle Square blue cranes.
