Axis tower site. The 10-12 tower site is across the road.

Remember, these picture's were taken last Monday.

It's since moved on from then.

Exchange Court tower.

A bit tongue in cheek.

Welcome you are now in Salford. Hav it!

I'm going to fall off a fence or wall one of these day's.

Greengate Baths.

It would be good if it could be turned back into affordable Baths, a Spa, and a health club, that could be used by the residents of Greengate, and residents throughout the city centre.

Think it would be very popular.

Thanks VDB. Those examples were quite impressive. That's the sort of place I'd love to live. Looking to move come late spring and will have to keep an eye out on these warehouses, especially if they are in the central city area.

Question (open to all of course). I heard that the old unused rail viaduct that runs parallel to the currently used by the metrotram in Castlefield may be restored. Is this correct and are there any details? i.e. when starting, what will be the final outcome?

Related, are there any plans for that currently empty (and dusty) open area underneigh, between the viaducts and before the Castlefield Arena?

Property prices in south central Manchester - the 'Southern Gateway' are due to rise 28% by 2021, according to JLL/The Times.

Quote:
Close to Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Manchester, the Southern Gateway is set to follow the city’s Northern Quarter success story of regeneration and price growth.

The Gateway, to the south of the city centre, has an impressive development pipeline of 7,500 homes to be built in the next few years. Nick Whitten, an associate director in JLL’s residential research department, says that this emerging neighbourhood is not going to be a sea of flats; it already includes the £25 million HOME arts complex, and there are plans for enough shops and restaurants to turn it into a “destination”. With tram and rail links already in place, the Southern Gateway has great connectivity, and Whitten forecasts that prices will grow 7 per cent in 2017 and 28 per cent by 2021. Today you can pick up a one-bedroom flat for £145,000.

To kick start 2017, another 100m+ proposal for Manchester.

  • Residential tower: 137.7m (40 floors)

  • Office tower: 71.2m (14 floors)

  • No. of apartments: 340

  • Amount of office space: 240,000sqft

As well as a new park, retail/restaurant/bar area, underground parking and new integrated entrances to the Metrolink station at Deansgate-Castlefield.

The greyed-out towers on the left there are 10-12 Whitworth St and Axis Tower, both rising this year. This vista will be a really big "block" of skyscrapers.

Will be Beetham's next-door neighbour:

Manchester really is on a different league from other regional cities. I keep saying it, but honestly I keep getting surprised myself by what we're seeing.

Not particularly happy about property price projections to 2021 though. That is a huge increase.

If all goes well this year should be incredibly exciting for the city.

Re price increase: yep it's great for people already owning property in South Central - they must be rubbing their hands together! But for us who are hoping to get onto the Manc property ladder this year it's not great!

The above skyscraper scheme is in South Central - as are numerous other schemes which amount to about 8,000 apartments in this area, but I think everybody agrees that the free market/supply and demand doesn't really work in the housing market scenario so I doubt they will bring property prices down

Via the magic of iPad. Maybe better posted via other formats?

Will try and do the other PDF, but it isn't loading properly.

Do not adjust your television sets.

Thanks for the updates VDB & JRB but I think you have the wrong thread... This can't be Manchester, are you sure these plans are not for Dubai?

Second PDF.

14 images split over 2 posts.

Different sizes, as all the pages don't fit into the iPad screen equally. Some renders enlarged. May look slightly blurred on laptops and PC monitor screens. They look ok my my tablet?

I'm struggling to envisage how Deansgate tram stop will look after this. Will it be covered, or open like now, or will another stretch be covered?

Have a look at the above plans, it is before the tram stop but after the bridge. Incredible view from the platform- real down-town stop.
