It really reminds me of the Piccadilly Station Approach Buildings!

The general consensus on the main Manchester thread for this development is a positive one. I look forward to seeing this get underway.

We should remember this is a City Centre project so the end result will have a dramatic effect on the City.

They've squeezed nearly 100 more apartments in and extended the height from 14 to 19 stories.

Still not exactly the best looking thing in Manchester at the moment

Old Buildings: Conversions to Apartments. Roundup
Friday, 16/1/2015

Recently there's been a lot of old building conversions across Central Manchester, mainly into residential. It's obviously a fantastic thing because with Grade A office space now in high demand, it means that the Grade B and C office space offered by these old Victorian/Edwardian structures are no longer being taken up by letters, so the upper floors are going empty. Recently, the government brought in measures which made it more easy and more attractive for developers to convert the upper floors of these buildings into apartments, so hence the abundance of conversions.

Here's a round-up. All in all, over 400 apartments are being delivered in the round-up below, with no major construction or disruption to the city required. Hopefully we'll see many more of these types of conversions as city centre living becomes more and more attractive in Manchester.

Enjoy!
