Hope GShutty won't mind me reposting his superb picture's?

Used my iPad to make them larger and to get a closer shot of the towers.

Picture's and credit to GShutty. Please see GShutty's Flickr page for more picture's of Owen Street, etc.

Another of my Now and Then efforts.

An approximate vision of the eventual height of the core.
Again, only approx, but it won't be far off.

Current progress of Core moved to the right - now that would stop the traffic

Simpson & Haugh Architects have updated their website.

They are a Manchester based practice and have and are designing many of Manchester's new towers and buildings for various property developers.

Tons of information and full size cgi's on all of the Manchester proposals they have done or are currently involved with.

Sadly nothing new that we don't know about yet.

Another picture from GShutty.

This time closer to Owen Street.

The impact the '4 monoliths' will have on the future Manchattan skyline can't be underestimated.

Note: Digger on the other side of the road is Renaker's 2-4 Chester Road development. A mere tiddler at 24 stories.

The plot to the right is the site for the proposed De Trafford towers. The plot to the right of that is Renakers. We expect some more large towers on that site.

Great news.

Ingall has finally snapped up Astley & Byrom House.

He's been after the building for years. It's on the edge of Spinningfields and St John's, his next mega proposal.

He recently Tweeted that he tried to buy the building, but the owner wouldn't sell it to him and was going to sell it to somebody else. Never mentioned who

Looks like he's gone back with an offer the old or current owner couldn't refuse.

Place North West.

Allied London adds Astley & Byrom to portfolio

4 Jul 2017, 11:43 Jessica Middleton-Pugh

Allied London has exchanged contracts to buy Astley & Byrom House, two interlinked 1960s offices on the edge of Spinningfields with planning permission for a 270,000 sq ft rebuild.

(Previous proposal with planning permission)

Mike Ingall tweeted this last year.

A massing model proposal for the Astley and Byrom House site. Looks very much like a replica of No1 Spinningfields in size and height. 20 stories & 300,000 sf ft.

Will be intetesting to see what he does with the site now that he's finally got his hands on it.

Tall buildings, July 2017

The latest Tall Buildings Update, which has seen 4 new tall buildings added since May this year. They are:-
  • 1-5 New Wakefield St | City | 35 floors, ~101m (Height TBC)

  • Great Jackson Plot E, Tower 1 | City | 32 floors / ~100m (Height TBC)

  • Derwent St | Ordsall, Salford | 27 floors / 83m

  • Great Jackson Plot E, Tower 2 | City | 22 floors / ~81m (Height TBC)

Still waiting on planning applications for a few of the above which will give us a more exact height, the heights given are approximations.

Summary
  • There are now 57 buildings over 80m on Manchester's tall buildings update

  • Manchester currently has 8 buildings over 80m Under Construction, and 4 buildings over 100m under construction.

  • It's hoped that Owen St Towers 2 and 3; 10-12 Whitworth St; The Residence and Oxygen Tower will start on site in the next few months

  • Designs for St Michael's are in the process of changing

The core of the 200.5 metre Owen Street tower is already making an impact.

Beetham wont be on it's own in the future.
