Possibility in 6 years time? Maybe longer?

Approaching Manchester from Liverpool, going straight through to Leeds.

On your left will be St John's, which will include St John's tower(50 stories), the Nickel and Dime towers, Factory, etc. See bridge bottom left corner of the St John's CGI masterplan.

On your right will be Trinity Island. Starting with the land where the mobile crane is and going further back. Just out of the CGI masterplan.

CGI from further down the River Irwell. Those 6 towers will be to the right of you and above you as you pass them.

As you sit in the train you will be cutting through the middle of 2 tower clusters either side of you, then turning towards the city centre, and on to Piccadilly Train Station.

The second tower has almost caught up with the first one! (And that will be the tallest from memory)

I wonder if it will overtake soon.

I know it's getting difficult to keep on top of all the developments and proposals that's going on in and around Greater Manchester at the minute.

Thanks to all the usual's who put's in so much effort and time keeping us all updated, it doesn't go unnoticed.

Not really

When i saw it for the first time, i automatically thought of Portland House which can be attributed back to the MetLife building in New York. Although looking at it again it looks a bit like Newfoundland, in summary the massing its not particularly interesting or innovate besides a fairly different cladding type.

As it is unlikely to be surrounded by any talls anytime soon, in order to hide its bulk. Once the hysteria that surrounds new tall buildings wears off (give it 5yrs at max), i'm worried that i'll stick out like a sore thumb.

If Manchester wants copy and paste architecture then thats fine, but for such a sensitive site they could try harder.

Re: St Michaels, I really hope this is something special at ground level because it is so meh as a skyscraper. It's a generic copy/paste as mentioned above.

I admire Gary Neville as he is a very dynamic person and a person to be admired and I hope any future development schemes he's involved with do well but this does seem like the wrong location for a skyscraper!
