Oh heavens no I love red brick. Despite what these pictures infer, during the Winter months Manchester can be quite a grey and depressing city - so any grey buildings don't really enhance the environment. Much better to have warm, red bricks - which are also more inkeeping with the traditional Manchester.

Just my opinion of course!

I love the Murray's Mills development - all redundant mills in Manchester should be treated like this. Whenever battleship gray, or any metal is added to brick, the contrast is sublime.

There's something about the name that is just, well... relatable!

Walked past the above site last week...and there certainly seems to be some activity started with clearing vegetation away, might be worth getting down there with a camera soon.

Similar scheme going on in Gorton as well. The high-rises really look very modern with this re-cladding going on.

Whereabouts is the Gorton scheme? I have wandered there before and thought it was a perfect area for development as it was a comfortable walking distance to the at least the lower city centre. The only thing I could google seemed too old and not what you were referring to. Unless it is being done very very slowly!

There's a block of flats just adjacent to Gorton Railway Station that was completed a couple of months ago, I'll have a look to see whether there are any pictures .

Awww, that's a shame I missed it, I like start to finish, hence the boarded up shots of the Ian Simpson project by Great Ancoats and Urban Exchange, pics of the Retail Park (though Sainsburys have pulled out so no idea what is happening with that now) and loads of shots of the New Islington wasteland. But pics of what has been done in Gorton would be cool if you can get them.
