China City Construction Completes Preliminary Approval At Brickell Site Where They Plan Miami’s Tallest Building

curbed

Quote:
China City Construction Corp. has completed ‘preliminary approval’ of what they call a landmark project at the former Capital at Brickell site, according to a posting on their website last week.

China City plans to build the tallest building in Miami on the site, their website said at the time of purchase (although the property is restricted in height by aviation officials compared to other parts of downtown.) Total construction area will be about 330,000 square meters, or 3.6 million square feet.

The project remains in the planning and design stage. A partner in the project, American Da Tang Group, has said it will be targeted towards Chinese end users with amenities that cater to them.
"Miami's tallest building" could mean anything given the gap between existing towers and those proposed but it would need to be at least 832 ft. high for now but more likely over 1,000 ft. tall.

it doesn't look over 300m.... so the height is just speculation?

The renders are both very preliminary and do little to back up their claims of building "Miami's tallest" tower. The site is in a tricky location zoning-wise for a supertall and so that's probably why the renders are so coy. But if they're making bold claims, one can expect at least a bold proposal...or they can please everyone by building the original design!

Hi guys, I recorded a registry while I was traveling during my last vacation in July.

I took one picture inside the Metromover leaving Financial District Station. The site appears in the center left.

Chinese Want To Build Miami’s Tallest Tower In Brickell, Hire Arquitectonica (Updated)

Quote:
September 10, 2015

China City Construction Corp. is one step closer to building the tallest tower in Miami.

Company officials traveled to New York on Monday to ink a deal with Arquitectonica for design work on a twin-tower project at the Capital at Brickell property. China City bought the vacant 2.78-acre site last year for $74.74 million.

China City wants to build the tallest tower in Miami, but it depends on several factors, including FAA height restrictions.

The company says that the project could top out at as high as 1,069 feet, taking the title of tallest in Miami thanks to newly eased height restrictions in the area. At that height, it would pass Tibor Hollo’s under-construction Panorama Tower, which is on track to become the city’s tallest tower in 2017 at 830 feet above sea level. Hong Kong-based Swire Properties received approval recently to build One Brickell City Centre at 1,049 feet.

It isn’t clear if both Capital at Brickell towers would reach the 1,069-foot height.

When completed, the project will include a hotel managed by a luxury operator such as Shangri La, Kempinski, or Aman Resorts. The total project size is expected to be 3.6 million square feet.

[...]

Quote:
Update: China City representatives want to clarify that the rendering above is purely conceptual. Now that Arquitectonica has been hired, the design process will begin with a programming stage to determine areas and uses.

The 1,069-foot height is also hypothetical, and depends on multiple factors including the FAA.

Chinese Targeting Early 2016 Groundbreaking For CCCC Miami Towers In Brickell

Quote:
China City Construction Corp. and American Da Tang Group are targeting early 2016 to begin construction on a Brickell project that could become the tallest in Miami.

CCCC Miami Towers, as the project is named, will be ‘iconic for Miami,’ American Da Tang’s Shanjie Li told Curbed. The developers are hoping to negotiate with the FAA to build Miami’s tallest tower, but emphasize that height is only one factor in what will make the project iconic. The height of the project could be as tall as 1,069 feet.

Li said that residential, retail, and offices are among the uses planned for the project.

Just a reminder but according to CCC, one tower will top out at 1069 ft, but the other is not the same height. It will be lower. Just to make sure some don't see the title and think two super talls. Also 80 floors is not definite at the moment. Subject to change.

But... its still a great leap for Miami.

What we have in terms of supertalls is quite unique.

1) One Brickell (2nd phase)
2) Villa Magna (2 possible super talls)
3) One Bayfront Plaza
4) Possibly the 2nd phase of Miami Central could include a 300m+.
5) CCCC Miami (1st tower out of a 2 tower complex)
6) Skyrise Miami (it may or may not be considered a super tall, but it is over 300m, even if its an observation/skyscraper at the same time. I guess a matter of opinion and what one see's as a definition of what is a supertall.

Now, this could change as the FAA might chop #4, as I suspect it will be reduced, but... the main point being that Miami, next to NYC, is producing a lot of tall structures. Lots of potential so lets keep our fingers crossed.

Do you have additional info about the height of the second tower? From what I read there's some chance both will be equally tall. Without knowing more about the second tower I can only include one tower in the title.

2nd tower for now has not been revealed. Even the first one is still in the design stage, but they have been saying for months that CCCC wants to build Miami's tallest. The 1,069 height is definite for the 1st, but 2nd for now is unknown.

They will be aggressive about it though because this company is pretty good at building projects rapidly. (many of their mainland china based projects in Beijing and Shenzhen)

Lets hope they build it at that height desertpunk, but I fear the FAA because this is directly under a flight path.

The Chinese get it done! You should see how they're tearing it up in downtown LA!

Its incredible. Every time I hear about a Chinese developer investing in U.S. property I get a smile. With Metropolis, it has been a rapid progress.

They do not play games I tell you that. From blue prints to steel and that's it. None of this shadow nonsense or save a playground.

Good news though. Middle Eastern are pouring massive amounts of capital into the U.S. right now, and much of it is headed to NYC, and S.Florida. Russians, and Brazilians as well. So many of the condo towers you see rising right now, expect more. Although it seems to have cooled down a little, in terms of international investment, its higher than even due to global instability.
