Hobart Waterfront
Apologies for poor night photography. My non-existent skills in that department messed up my attempt to capture the buzz of Hobart's waterfront - which I think rivals Sydney's Rocks as Australia's best historic waterfront precinct, and at night it is booming.
To my mind the presence of the Tasmanian parliament building on the waterfront gives Hobart more formality, where The Rocks are intriguing and wind-about. ![]() ![]() The Kelly Street steps wind from Salamanca Place up to Battery Point, a very charming waterfront district. ![]() i was told this Russian ship with an ice-breaker bow is taking tourists to Antarctica. I translated the name as Marina Svetlana, but not certain that i have all this right. ![]() The Anzac class missile frigate HMAS Warramunga moored behind it for Easter: ![]() Lady Nelson is a replica of one ship that made the voyage from England in the early 1800s - seemed so tiny. ![]() The Telegraph Hotel was roaring all night just before Easter. I was staying in the Quest Waterfront opposite it. ![]() ![]() ![]() A Battery Point house ![]() A few intimate little restaurants wind down the spine of Battery Point: red one there is Spanish, and on an adjacent corner is Di Angelo's Italian family restaurant - immensely popular, and jammed to the rafters on the second night when we finally managed to get a table. ![]() Abel Tasman statue in park at Salamanca Place. Salamanca Place is named for a British victory over the French in Spain during the Napoleonic Wars . ![]() HMAS Warramunga again, also moored opposite Salamanca Place ![]() Sailors' fare, I'm guessing -the scores of restaurants in the area are pretty pricey: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() and I think that was about all in this lot worth rescuing,

The Battery Point House! Photographed it myself.
Unless you're an expert (and brought your tripod) the night shots are always difficult ... great shots, BronteBoy. I have family in Tasmania now.

Great shots Bronte.
As for the Russian ship I can't say as I can't see the whole name but you've definitely got the last name wrong. If you look you can see that the second last letter is a B, which translates as a V in English. Also I don't see the Cyrillic equivalent of L there. The Marina looks right though.
