Best gay clubs in Montreal...
Hey everyone,
I'm going to be coming to Montreal with some friends this summer, and we're going to be going to several dance clubs, but we'd also like to stop in at one or two really good gay clubs. Can anyone give me some names, websites, or information on any? I want a younger or atleast mixed-age crowd if possible at these clubs ![]() Thanks!!! -thryve |

Sky Bar, for sure.
http://www.complexesky.com/ I don't know about the dance places any more.. also on different nights of the week, people go to different bars. But Sky gets a pretty good crowd most evenings, starting with the after work crowd.

If you want to dance, your two best bets are Unity and Parking, in the Village. Unity is for younger crowd, while Parking has a mix of older and young crowd, plus a new backroom downstairs, if you are into that. As for the after-hours, gays prefer Stereo, where the crowd is about 50-50 straight and gay. The action at Stereo starts around 3 in the morning and goes on to about 10-12 the next morning. It gets pretty hot around 6...

The few times going to Sky (summertime) revealed its virtually unique young crowd (clones frighten me).
While certainly leaning toward the young end of the spectrum, Unity II might be considered being a little mixed some of its (weekend-only) nights. It's safe to say Le Parking's mixed. No matter which floor there, it's great how you become hot and sweaty, gleaming away the remainder of your night there. Its weekend DJs used to be heavily into the 'tronic bassy beats, whereas they now take to reverting to infusing some great whirling discoish classics. Plus, lads do take to checking out Le Stud that harbours its older clientèle. |

Definitely Sky. Probably the "hottest" gay club based on popularity and size.
My personal fave is Parking, though. There's a sort of retro 1980s, underground gay club vibe that adds a bit of character. Definitely a durrty bar. hehe |

Uhm, I'd like to retract this remark, coz, past Saturday, it'd been at least one year since I'd last gone to Sky. Errr, the patrons were playful and outgoing, and the most surprising fact was that there relatively few people there the whole night -- I guess Sky's busier come high summer . . .

Sky has three floors and an open patio on top ,and you are right, it gets busier in the summer but all year round activities never end there ,you just have have to come at the right time ,like on saturday night people would be at the lobby ground for a few drinks before heading upstair for dancing or going some where else , so if you are there after eleven pm it won't be so crowded , don't forget there many bars and clubs ,restaurants along st Catherine street, so the choice is quite flexible

I was trying to pass myself off as an angel. It seems to have worked.
I remember opening the door to the 'bathroom' on the upper tier level of the 'Fridge' night club in Brixton and 7 men fell out.

Being a good Samaritan, I pushed the door closed for them. Clubs for men certainly have a different vibe than the co-ed clubs. I suppose there are a few backrooms in those also, but they are more hidden. Anyone know if the women's clubs have their own version? As far as the thread question goes, I'd have to go with 'Parking'. What's the massive multi-storey club with the massive roof top patio on the south side of St.Catharine's, east of Parking? Is that Unity, or is Unity the one on the other side of the street with lots of twinks? Last edited by isaidso; May 6th, 2008 at 01:01 AM. |

Their roof top patio is usually packed so they do have significant cash coming in. Cheap rents in Montreal certainly help a great deal. I'd have to admit to being astonished at the scale or their gay village and the variety of establishments. It's quite impressive.

You might have been referring to the Bourbon Street complex, whose outdoor roof patio does get more people in the summer than Drugstore. I won't comment on the aesthetics of the complex, however,as it really is not my cup of tea. I liked it the way it was when it was the grungy old Taverne du Village.
