nice

diagram update
a few weeks ago 432 park ave overtook Mumbias world one tower as new next tallest resi!
432 park ave should hold the reign as worlds tallest resi probably for a year or so
432 park ave now 231m, and world one 216m thats 15m/50ft dif.
interesting to see how far 432 park ave streaks ahead due to simple floor floor design

According to today's news at CTBUH the Pentominium is back on.

http://www.ctbuh.org/

Also, there has been some talk the Chicago Spire may not be entirely dead.

An omission from the World's Tallest Resi timeline...
(between Marina City and Lake Point Tower)

1000 Lake Shore Plaza apartments, Chicago, 1964
55 storeys 180m 590' tall (2' taller than Marina City)

Tallest residential building in the world from 1964 to 1968.

(also for a period the tallest reinforced concrete building in the world)

Go Pentominium! (And Chicago Spire, of course)

I can't believe 432 Park Avenue is going to be the tallest residential building in the world and the second tallest in NYC by official height upon its completion. It will definitely make a difference in the New York skyline.

No, that title goes to the Mumbai World One. I may be wrong though.

I think he meant upon completion. That would mean the World One would be still under construction.

if 432 tops out before world one it will be the tallest for a brief period, in any case it's a very close second.

But Pentominium will be the tallest, when it's finished.

If it is finished it wouldn't top out before One World or 432 park avenue.

It would also have to watch out for Chicago Spire too, if built.

Yeah. Some people don't understand what we mean by tallest. A building becomes tallest only when it tops out not when it's on paper. 432 will become tallest, then world one becomes tallest, then pentominuim assuming they top out in that order.

CTBUH considers nowadays a building the tallest when it is completed.

Maybe. Point is a building becomes tallest when it becomes tall physically.

Yes. Then we could say a building becomes the tallest residential building when its highest point extends past the current record holder.

Technically yes. But you just said CTBUH considers it when a building is completed, way after topping off.

I just told the "official" definition. Still, I guess all are free to use the definition they prefer.
