432 park ave now 231m, and world one 216m thats 15m/50ft dif.
interesting to see how far 432 park ave streaks ahead due to simple floor floor design

the diagram is about buildings that have the chance to get the worlds tallest, if he added all the residential buildings over 300m, this diagram would be a lot bigger and more chaotic for sure.

Seeing the Tallest Selfsupporting Tower thread pop up, I thought of this thread.

It's a big week for the Tallest Residential Tower as 432 Park Avenue has now topped out!

With 426 meters it's now officially the highest residential tower in the world.
It won't be long however before Mumbai's World One will eclipse 432's height.

I think it's time for Culwulla to make a new diagram!

^ 432 PA has NOT topped out. The core yes, but there are still two perimeter floors left to build.

Also, the Nordtrom Tower should be in the diagram too. More than 85% (according to the CTBUH rules) is residential.

CTBUH lists Nordstrom Tower as a mixed-use building (residential / hotel / retail). But 106 Tower and Diamond Tower would belong to the diagram, although they may not win in the end.

Am i the only one who thinks that 432 PA looks odd and doesn't fit in the NY skyline? Looks like Taipei 101 tbh.

No you aren't alone
Before 432 park was build the Midtown skyline was perfectly ballanced. Now there is one too thin and too tall and unoriginal building, which dwarfed the skyline, destroyed the balance and looks out of place. For our luck the balance will get brought back by all the projects getting build near it with equal hights, but think I will never become a fan of it. Just my opinion.

I think it will look more horrible, when all the other skinny towers are going to be built in the neighbourhood.

Yeah, yeah 432 PA is horrible. I know, it's missing some tacky crown. And maybe the facade should be all glass. Oh, and also green - brownish. Also, don't forget to add a nice sign at the top! A pinkish LED lighting wouldn't hurt either. I'm sure that would look superb.

432 PA is such a horrible tower. How could they do this ...

Guys wtf? If all buildings in Manhattan were the same height then there'd be no skyline at all, just a boring plateau. One can argue about the building itself, but its impact in the skyline is undeniably awesome.

Thank god! For me, this building scrams 'tackiness'.

To be honest it looks like a design made by a 4 year old kid. Looks just like a lego piece with windows. Simplicity doesn't equare to juvenile architecture

How was it designed by a 4 year old? What 4 year old could design a tower that would be able to be so skinny, yet so tall and sustain itself without tipping over? Your argument is pathetic, sure you may not like the tower, but by no means was it designed by a 4 year old. The tower was never meant to be a flashy tower, if it was meant to be a flashy tower, it would be, but it wasn't. Then the pitiful arguments that it sticks out like a sore thumb, as if their aren't 15 other supertalls planned

I think he means a 4 year old Architect and not a 4 year old Structural engineer

i think 432 park looks simple and elegant and the 2 parapet floors are there just needs the roof slab the simple geometry of is what makes it look good it is the same as the twin towers they were boxes but much more gigantic footprints similar height.

This thread is about the race for the world's tallest residential tower, not to discuss one specific tower extensively.
Please use this thread for it.
