City Park (at the Museum of Nature and Science) if you want mountains in the background.

The Highlands neighborhood, across the highway, above the Speer Blvd bridge for just city.

Not sure if you've already come, but there are a lot of us Denver forumers. PM me if you'd like more details or a tour.

These are just pictures I happen to have on my computer at work, so they're nothing fabulous. But here are the angles I was describing:

Speer & I-25, in the Highland neighborhood:

City Park, behind the Museum of Nature and Science:

And a third idea maybe, while not a spectacular skyline angle, it's just a nice place to be and enjoy city views and the park/river behind you. This one is from the Millenium Bridge in the Central Platte Valley neighborhood.

Certainly not one of the better views around, but one I;ve always liked. From the roof of a parking garage in the Cherry Creek Shopping District:

Finally, if you want a really unusual (slightly ghetto) angle, this is the view out my bedroom window (this is obsolete, we've got a nice new tower sitting right in the middle of this angle now!):
