MIAMI on the BIG SCREEN!!!
My two favorite movies set in Miami remain the old James Bond movies Goldfinger and Thunderball. The opening scenes of Goldfinger include great aerial shots of the old Fountainbleau Hotel where Goldfinger's mistress gets painted gold for sleeping with 007. And the underwater battle scene at the end of Thunderball is a movie classic. The Coast Guard paratroops scuba divers with spearguns into Biscayne Bay to do battle with Largo's hencemen to keep them from blowing up Miami with two atomic bombs. Let's not forget the Harrier jet facing off with 701 Brickell in True Lies, and let's not forget Chuck and Spellbound in Black Sunday. I'm sorry you guys didn't get an Oscar nod, but that's movie politics for ya'. Anyways, there are lots more including the last James Bond flick Casino Royale, and lots more to come with the new Miami skyline costarring, so let's name 'em!

I like the movie "Tony Rome" starring Frank Sinatra and I remember he is talking to his buddy Packy who is played by Rocky Graziano the boxer at a time when they were building the Four Ambassador Hotels, you can see it in the background scene of the movie.
I also liked the movie "Lady in Cement" another Tony Rome movie starring Raquel Welch and if I am not mistaken I remember seeing the Villa Viszcaya mansion in that movie. I loved the 60's Miami look that was tropical and had a laid back feeling to it. |

"Hole in the head" was another Sinatra movie based in Miami Beach.
How about "Clambake" with Elvis? There's the meeting with Hyman Roth in the "Godfather II" "The Bellboy" with Jerry Lewis working the Fontainebleau. |

Speaking of which, downtown is in dire need of a movie theater. Why doesn't such a huge area with so many new towers not have a movie theater? I know Met Square is slated to have one, but we all know how Met is, so we don't know when we'll get Met Square.

Here's a list I pulled off the Internet. It's obviously lacking. True Lies isn't even there as well as Absence of Malice. Sean Connery filmed a non-Bond movie here, I guess about 10 years ago, that I can't remember the name of, and Denzel was shooting something here several years ago that I can't remember the name of. http://www.miamiforvisitors.com/medi...lmed-miami.htm

"Say hello to my little friend" Obviously that is the line by Al Pacino in "Scarface". The hotel where they filmed on South Beach was between Johnny Rockets Burger Joint and the Colony Hotel on 7th street. Man has South Beach changed dramatically since 1983,it was a drab looking area in the now so-called Art Deco section along with the demographics going from an octagenerian Jewish community to a young peoples party crowd.

The airport and downtown scenes in Casino Royale were filmed in Eastern Europe. I'm pretty sure the only film shot in Miami is that of the interstate signs.

I've have always thought the Santa Maria would be a great setting as the home of George Jetson if they ever did a live-action version of the old Jetsons cartoon. With all our new 21st century architecture, Miami would certainly be the place to film something like that with some CGI skyways crisscrossing the city. ![]() Oh, stupid me! I forgot the one I was in where I got my SAG card with my one-liner to John Malkovich as Report #1 in Making Mr. Right! The guy whose line I was given got sick that day, and a star was born. Yeah, right! I never worked as actor again after that. Was time to grow up and take a real job.

" Any Given Sunday" with Al Pacino as the coach ,shots of the now being demolished Orange Bowl in quite a few of the scenes. That was a great cast,I would consider it an all-star cast and a well-made movie and gave behind the scenes look of the politics of pro football.
