Right on, Incheon! That's what I call a shard, Londoners!

Let's just hope they wont use those horrible lightning schemes. Giant white stars, seriously?

Around this proposal tower is very deserted land. Only a few apartment stand alone. Also pretty far away from seoul(20~25km)
Btw This tower is really cool design. I like it.
Hopely triple one will be revised such a good design.

In the render, I can see many tall skyscrapers and might one of them be more than 300 Meters tall. I hope this render turns into reality, it will be fascinating and one of the most interesting urban projects in the world...if they keep their word and start this as soon as possbile. And without changing anything in the current design of course.

Just hope they build this one quickly without further compromises, that's one sleek and gorgeous form but wouldn't want to stick my finger on the tip of the tower, looks sharp, ouch!

Cheongna City Tower: Optical Technology Makes It Appear Invisible

The super tall Cheongna City Tower, in Incheon, South Korea has been designed by international practice GDS Architects. The landmark first superstructure is the first invisible tower of the world refuses itself to be a land mark. The observation tower will be new landmark of Korea which keeps itself apart from global community subtly establishing its rising position in the world through lessening its presence. Through an optical technology the tower appears to disappear. GDS Architects assured the city tower competition jury that the optical technology used by Eco Prism makes it disappear.

The invisibility contributes to the use of optical camera which are specially position and LEDs creating reflective surface for the building. The firm is inspired by the twentieth century architect Louis Kahn. According to GDS architects, they believe in the strength of nothingness and power of absence which are referred by Louis Kahn. A traveller could see the views from observation towers through walls which encourage people to travel this worldly destination and discover different culture.

The tower with 450meters tall, sprawling over 145,500 square meters the construction which uses porous walls through which the city views are penetrated as if it were mesh of a curtain. The outdoor public area around the tower includes outside environmental activities, sports, cultural, Water Park, extensive platform for children activities, natural park setting and Cheongna’s water canals. The project has won many awards, which being built by Samoo Architects and Engineers hope to finish by September 2014 when Asian Games starts.

Anyone read that infographic?

Quote:
- Rather than compete for the tallest or "best" landmark by traditional measure, this proposal reverses and challenges... why?
- Korea to have a powerful monument by having a "Non-Monument"
- Korea to occupy unique world position renown for the "best" tower because it [sic] of its "anti-tower"
- The most visibly striking landmark in the world because it's "invisible"
- Excitement of the disappearing tower - showcase Korean excellence in High Technology
LOL! A lot of asian projects read like elementary-school assignments; they either don't actually hire a pr-firm, or something is lost in translation.

this is not Supertall Building but Observatory Tower(look like Supertall),this will apply Fast-Track(paralleled Construction with Design).
So,it will complete within 2014 Incheon Asian Game.

I thought so. Looked kind of empty for a regular tower. Strange idea to make empty skyscraper shell just for observatory deck, but still, this will have to look interesting, especially during sunrise. Quite unique project.

Most people thought it seems like Supertall(Seemingly),but this is Observatory tower for Landscapes like CN Tower(Toronto) or Sky Tree Tower(Tokyo).
So,they can confound Supertall with Tower's Notion,I understand this problem. You're welcome.
