How to upload and post Images

Welcome to the image uploading thread.

follow the following steps to quickly upload images into your post.

• If you've got the image on your computer hard drive, then follow steps A to F
• If you've got the URL of the image (eg.http://www.google.com/intl/en_ALL/images/logo.gif) then proceed to step F
• If you just want to learn how to show the image, then head to step E and see how the code is used in the message box.

A. If the image is located on your hard drive then go to www.imageshack.us


this is how the important portion of the website looks like-



B. Click on the Browse button and locate your image. If you wish to resize your image then click on the upload options/resizing >> link and select the desired height and width.


C. Next click on the upload now button.


D. Wait for the new page to load. The page should look like this -




E. Now copy the code that appears in the second line (written next to "Direct link" and surrounded by the green box) and paste it in the forum message box using the IMG tags like this -




And that's all there is to it! Hit the submit reply button at the bottom and see your image appear in your post.



F. If you found an image on another website/blog then please make it a habit to first imageshack it and then post it. This way there will be no external control on the image.

• Copy the url of your image and go to www.imageshack.us
• Select the url radiobutton (shown in the illustration below)

I just want to add a point here -

If you have a file which probably won't fit on a standard 17" screen, please don't paste it directly.

Please reduce the size of the image or attach it as a thumbnail.

I feel for a 17 inch screen, the correct size is 1024 x 728 pixels. Anything bigger than that mars the beauty.

All my uploads for images end up as red cross what is happening,i cant figure it out any suggestions?

Imageshack has changed its output somewhat.

Use hotlink for forums (1). Uncheck the include details box.

Just copy and paste the entire string. No need to add any tags.

Do some images not let you resize them?

In light of the change in Imageshack's links page, I've made the necessary changes to the N00bie image uploading guide.

It's suggested that you reupload the images on imageshack so that YOU can control the image. If you hotlink and the image hoster removes the image or replaces it, so will the image posted by you.

Only once or twice has that happened with me. In that case, just download the image, resize it and upload it.

here's what you need to do.

make sure you make the window of the paint is as large as possible by scrolling down and dragging the right so that you can scroll down and sideways.

Once you do that. print screen and paste it in paint. If it is a large image, open another window. since all the part of the times of the india article won't be posted in one single print screen click, you will have to paste the remaining part of the article in another window and then merge both of them together and align them accurately. Use the button as shown in the following picture. Any questions, let me know.

indian soul - There are no guidelines for using watermarks. You get to decide what you want to do with your images.

In my opinion, small translucent watermarks placed at the center are ideal. They'll protect your images from being misused and also make sure that maximum details of your image can be viewed by others.

Actually personally I don't care how you put your watermark. Thats upon you. I really liked your East West corridor photos and updates. Till now we had almost no photos/updates on this. A really nice update..

Sometimes u need not even upload pics. Any pic in web can be embedded using image link. Use this icon

It is better you upload the picture as the link may contain viruses or the picture may be deleted on the website it originally came from.

Is there like any other site for uploading pics onto the forum other than image shack?

Though it is best not use photobucket as images become no longer visible after a while.
