It's a special discount of the Czech Railways. You have to travel from Prague to Vienna and back during one Sunday in April in the high-speed Pendolino train which leaves Prague at 5:57 and arrives at Vienna at 10:02. On the way back, you have to use the train departing at 15:58 and arriving ar 20:01. At these times very few people travel with this train (because the times of departure and arrival are so unfortunate) and ČD gives the tickets away for 19 Euros.

Normal price is 67 euros (38 euros via e-shop), distance Prague - Vienna = 400 km

Thanks for the help. now it`s fixed. I made a reservation from the 20th to the 23rd of June.

Finally a new trip

Everybody tells me how beautiful the city is. How about modern architecture? Anything you can recommend me to visit?

How many of the Prague-Vienna daily trains are Pendolinos? The timetable doesn't look much faster than when I did the journey 10 years ago.

What is the normal fare?

Kappa21 while I wouldn't say Vienna is garbage I much prefer the intimacy and variety (grandeur and humble alongside each other) of Prague to the stuffy imperial formality of central areas of Paris and Vienna. Viva Praha!

If I bring my laptop to CZ* what is the situation with internet connections? I understand many municipalities offer free wireless (unsecured?) service. Is this mainly Prague? What is the situation in areas outside Prague? Mainly wireless, or does one look for telephone lines to connect to?

*BTW all you Czech forumers who told me to use CZ referring to Czech Republic, the Czech Consulate in Sydney told me very firmly I must use ČR! No more "CZ" guys!

Two of the daily trains are Pendolino-type, but there are more connections by EC trains, which should also be of a decent quality. The trip with Pendolino takes 240 minutes, with EC 270 minutes. In my opinion, one of the Pendolino trains to Vienna departs too early (6:00), the other one too late (10:00). But the Pendolino connection to Bratislava is even more miserable, there is just one train per day which leaves Prague around 18:00.

The price to Vienna, if you buy the ticket at a train station, is 67 EUR both ways. If you buy it via internet, it's 38 EUR both ways. But there are many discounts on these trains (EC and Pendolino), for example if you travel from Brno, you can buy the ticket along with a 1-day pass for Vienna public transport at a lower price.

Thanks Tramfreak. Looking at the timetable I can see that the Pendolinos go from Praha Hlavni.

If you ask younger people, they can reply, as most of them (us) can speak English and/or German. Spanish or French are common amongst some of them (us), too. If you want to speak russian, go to the senior's clubs and stacionaries Polish can be understood here, too, especially when close to the polish border.

Well, ukrainian.. from time to time I hear it here in the town and in Prague, but I am not sure if it is not russian

Do Czech people understand Slovak language?
What language use these nations when they speak between them?

Most of us do, since both languages were used (for example) in the TV broadcasting during the federation times. But it is said that the younger generation doesn't understand Slovak anymore, so it seems that I'm no longer part of the younger generation...
So if we go to Slovakia, we usually simply speak Czech and vice versa.

Amazing pictures and let me tell you that you have a beautiful country. Last year I had the opportunity to visit Prague and my impression was unexplained, I really enjoyed the city and I found very friendly people there, it was a great experience. I would like to share some pictures with you later.

Greetings from Chihuahua Mexico,
