I was in Lokal, it was very good. The menu was just in Czech, but the waiters were all young and are happy to translate to English. Ne ze bych to potreboval, jen kdy by..
Czech food might be too heavy and fat for Mediterraneans though.

No way! Czech food is great for digestive system (especially with pivo ). You don't get reflux and bloated like Mediterranean food!

I'm not Czech but I will try to explaine you. I think this country is the safest in Central Europe, due to people. I was staying in Czech Republic for 5 months and I notised they are polite, respectful and peaceful guys. As regards they do not go out in the evening unlike, for example like in my country or in South Europe - it just depends on mentality. At this time they prefer to seat at the hospoda (restaurant) to drink beer or just be at home.

i think czech do go out a lot, actually... there is plenty of places that dont close until early in the mornings not only at the weekends... as for clubs... mecca and duplex lost its credit for prague club people long time ago, so nobody bothers... they rely mosty on tourists, y'know... sasazu is huge so depends really on the dj line-up... well, i actually don't go out due to my midlife crisis

Každopadně, podle mého nazoru, Česko je nejbezpečnější stat ve střední Europe

I agree, not only in central Europe but most of the world.

Velmi bláhová domněnka. Zvu vás na večerní procházku po Ústí nad Labem nebo Ostravě, uvidíte realitu

OK I guess I was talking about Prague and most other areas I've visited, but not those two cities.

That's not about two cities, that's about the whole country outside Prague (and, well, Prague has it's infamous places too, like Libeň or Karlín)...

Not my experience. But of course even the outwardly "nicest" countries (including Australia) have areas you wouldn't want to go in as a tourist. On the whole the Czechs are very nice gentle people, I'm very comfortable in CZ (unbiased opinion of course!)

Yes, you shouldn't have problems with Czechs. The problem is that not only Czechs live here... if you understand what I mean But of course it's fine as long as you are comfortable here.

I think in every country you can find some dangerous places to go out, even during day-time. When I was talking about Czech Republic I meant at first Brno, as I was staying there. I was walking in any time of day and I didn't have any problems, in addition I attended Czech language courses for aliens in one Gipsy district for 3 months - no problem. Perhaps, they were affraid I am from Ukraine

For sure, in Prague during just one vening two men asked me about some money and one arabic guy offered me hashish.

Let me participate in your friendly debate! I was beat up once in Neratovice (16000 inh.) on the main street during the day (summer 18:00) by a gypsy and a Czech junkie. Since then I am more careful and I don't trust especially people around my age. So there are some problems with safety in ČR, but this experience of mine doesn't mean anything. In Venice it happened to me several times that people selling the boat tickets tried to rob me. In some cities in Italy and Spain the street artists became agressive when we took no notice of them. So the situation in ČR is just about average in my opinion.

Oh yes, and I forgot to add, I AM an idiot, so you don't have to tell me that anymore.

What about Holesovice? I don't go there often, but groups of youngsters sitting in the alleyways looked quite dangerous to me Actually I would say it will be improving in Karlín/Libeň with new projects like DOCK or Rohan Isle.. anyway, you guys are racists I've never experienced any problems or robbery, thankfully. I know how to defend myself though.
