Brat - brother, slava - something like celebration. ,,Celebration of brotherhood"? Maybe, I didn't study the history of the name of our city... Someone else might know...

Nice development. I like the hotel tower the most. Don't like the cladding of the taller tower though.

looks boring and very uninspired.... too many boxes being built in Bratislava... this project, that olympia project, and the panorama city - looks almost the same.. just slightly different versions of the same concept..

Well, this is not Dubai, the main thing for developers is still the cost of building and square meters it can offer... And there are some buildings already built or U/C that are far away from being just ,,boxes". Plus I am sure that some more other unique designs are about to come...

It looks like Bratislava is booming for sure, with all these highrises/scrapers being built... My opinion is that for the same amount of money being invested (some I have seen costs several 100's million euro), better designs could have been applied...

Although the projects I mentioned look boring individually after my opinion - it will still be great to have them, since they occupy alot of space and create a dense cluster... From an overall skyline perspective, it will most probably look very good

brat = brother, slava = glory(or heil)
so if you wanna traslate, it would be "the glory of the brothers". :-)
However, it shouldn`t be translated like this, since the city is named according to ancient owner of the city.

little piece from wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Bratislava

The Bavarian historian Johannes Aventinus will write in the 16th century that in 805 the Bratislava Castle was repaired during the reign of its lord, Prince Vratislav, on the place of the ruins of an old Roman settlement allegedly called Pisonium, and was named Wratisslaburgium; if this is true, Prince Vratislav is, after Samo, only the second Slavic historical figure known from the Middle Danube region. In 864, the first written reference to the Devín Castle (Dowina) appears in the Fuldish Annals. Around 900, it was probably owned by the (originally) Lower Pannonian prince Braslav (Bräslav, Brazlaw) - or by a magnate of the same name - who was a vassal of Bavaria (Germany). Earlier, it was thought that Bräslav was the person who gave the town Bratislava its German name Brezalauspurc (see 907), later Pressburg, and maybe also its new Slovak name Bratislava - see under Bratislava - Names; nowadays, it is assumed that Pressburg/Brezalauspurc is a distortion of Predeslausburg, a name derived from Predslav, who was (according to some historians) the ruler of Bratislava around 900 and the 3rd son of the Great Moravian king Svätopluk; the modern Slovak name Bratislava, however, is assumed to be derived (by mistake) from the name of the Czech ruler Bretislav I.

I like this project. The residential highrises look very nice,i like the cladding a lot.the hotel tower looks ok,though maybe too much 80's-like,though probably it'll look better in reality. Bratislava seems to be really booming,they are so many skyscrapers U/C currently, i wonder if this boom will continue,but Bratislava certainly's going to have a very good skyline for a city of its size,probably the best in this category (under 500000 pop.) in Europe. It also looks to me that most of the new highrises in Bratislava are residential,which i think is a good thing though. I have a question: Will this be the tallest tower in Bratislava when finished or are there any other ones proposed that will be higher?

There are taller proposals, for example the Twin City Tower which will have probably around 170m, but no one knows if that will be the final version and which one of these two will be finished first.

Also there are a few projects near this one that are rumored to be touching 200m, but no official word or visualization yet. Klingerka project is probably the one closest to be the tallest one for some time.
