E, olhe as fotos do Beira-Rio.

Sercan, believe me. You do not want to know...
They are discussing why the World Cup stadium would be Internacional's, and not Grêmio's. Senseless debate. It was about location. Grêmio's stadium, the one of this thread, is in one of the ugliest parts of the town. Hopefully, it will develop soon, and become a nice place to visit and be around. If it happens, we will all be thankful to the stadium. On the other hand, Beira-Rio's is in one of the most beautiful parts of the city: between a park and the river (lake?); and near two shoppings center and a museum. It was never about the quality of the stadium. However, Inter's Beira-Rio, although it could be not better to the Grêmio's Arena, it will be certainly good enough. And this is all that matters. |

I recommend you go to the page of the Beira-Rio and see the latest photos that I put. I'm not saying that the Beira-Rio will be better than the Arena, but that will be just as good. I'm happy that Porto Alegre will have two incredibles stadiums. Staying discussing what will be best is stupidity. http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showth...1213577&page=6 |

whats more important to the World Cup? A great stadium in a bad part of the city, a medium stadium in the best part of the city? Where will foreigner fans stay? Will we be able to hide any poverty from foreign eyes by having the games in Beira Rio?
bah, sincerely, I am tired of this debate. What is done, is done. I can call FIFA stupid, but it wont change nothing. And mods, feel free to punish people who post in portuguese here. |

exactly, and for the people who do not know much about south american football, Internacional is Grêmio´s archrival from across the city.
Andre Lima celebrated Kidiaba style to remind Internacional fans of their humiliating defeat (sorry Africans, but its considered humiliation in Brazil to lose to a club from Africa and not dispute the WC Clubs against the european club). |

Ugh, these energy poles ruins the view of the Stadium. Is there some plan to remove or change their position?

Arena Grêmio opens despite being snubbed for 2014 World Cup
Monday, 10 December 2012 ![]() By Tom Degun December 10 - The magnificent new 60,000 capacity Arena Grêmio has opened in Porto Alegre in Brazil despite the fact that it was controversially overlooked for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The $289 million (£180 million/€224 million) Arena Grêmio (pictured top) is the first of 14 new stadiums being developed ahead of Brazil 2014 and it was inaugurated with home side Grêmio securing a 2-1 victory in a friendly over Bundesliga club Hamburg SV. But following the match, club officials said they are still unsure as to why the venue will not be used for the World Cup, with FIFA instead opting to stage games at the nearby Beira-Rio Stadium which is owned by Grêmio's arch-rival Internacional. The Beira-Rio Stadium (pictured below) is currently undergoing a $159 million (£99 million/€123 million) redevelopment and it is not expected to be completed before December 2013. ![]() "That (why the stadium will not be used for the World Cup) hasn't been explained to us," said Grêmio's vice-president Eduardo Antonini. "We are the first stadium to be ready. "This city is passionate about its football and instead the World Cup has gone to other places with less footballing tradition." The Arena Grêmio is not the only new venue that has failed to make the World Cup list with Palmeiras' 45,000-seat stadium in São Paulo having a similar status. Nevertheless, Grêmio's new home has received praise from Ronaldo, the Brazil 2014 member who led the country to victory at the 2002 World Cup. "I've been in the best and most famous stadiums and the Arena is excellent," said Ronaldo, who is widely considered one of the best strikers in history. "I've only seen stadiums like this in Europe and this is up there with the best in the world." Experts believe that the Grêmio and Palmeiras' stadiums could be used as backup options by FIFA if any of the World Cup's 12 host venues fail to be ready on time. "Nobody is talking about it but I think it (Arena Grêmio) is a Plan B," said Stochos sports marketing agency President Cesar Gualdani. "The Palmeiras stadium too. "If a World Cup stadium is not on time or has problems, they have these as alternatives." insideworldfootball Last edited by copa olympic; December 11th, 2012 at 09:46 AM. |

Ok, first of all write in english!! Stop being a troll and then we discuss. okay? It has already being discussed millions of times and so you should stop being a whiner because the games will take place in Colorados Stadium! Gremio` project is nice, but nothing espectacular, other stadiums in Brazil will do much better when finished! Saying that gremio arena is better than Mineirao can only be a joke, you cannot even compare those two! A master piece of architecture with a fake blue plastic arena! You have to compare Gremio arena to stadiums that have been built in the last five years and you will see that it is not that great, not to say it is in the middle of a neglected area in Porto Alegre!

But talking about the Arena calling it "a fake blue plastic arena" is a little too much, huh? And being built in a neglected area is one of the good features of the stadium, because now the neglected area is on focus and will finally receive the atention it needs to evolve. |
