Lobito

___________________________________________________________________

Lobito is a city and a municipality of Benguela Province in Angola. It dates from 1905 and owes its existence to the bay of the same name having been chosen as the sea terminus of the Benguela railway to the far interior, passing through Luau to Katanga in Congo. The city is located on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. The population is about 153,000. The old council (concelho) was created in 1843 by the Portuguese administration.

Brand new Lobito picture September 2008

this city is really reclaiming what it once was, just look at the new roads and renovation of old buildings, goodbye to those pot-holed streets...

look at that just so smooth and very nice roads

old cinema looks to be re-opened soon, in beautiful artedéco style

I just love these brand new pictures coming out of Lobito!
