Here are a bunch of pictures I took at the National Building Museum in Washington DC about a month ago when Hillary Clinton gave her concession speech. The building was absolutely spectacular, I urge everyone to visit it sometime if you visit our nation's capital.

exterior of the building:

interior of the building:

Hillary speaking at the podium:

Chuck Schumer doing an interview. I had a chat with him before he went on camera.

Candy Crowley from CNN:

Major Garret from Fox News:

Terry McAuliffe, Hillary's campaign manager:

Nice pictures. The building is nice, but I've never seen the interior.

Did you know that most recent Presidential Inaugural balls have been held there?

I took one or two pictures of the National Building Museum (from the adjacent Law Enforcement Officers Memorial) in my thread of Downtown Washington in the B/W section.

Now those are better pictures of Wilmington's skyline.

Camden doesn't have too much of a skyline, but its streetscape is okay. Downtown Camden was supposedly really nice back about 75 or 100 years ago.

Those pics of Wilmington had to have been taken from I-495, which bypasses the city to the east. I-95 runs in and out of the city’s central core. It is a raised highway viaduct for the several miles south of downtown (from the mega-change to 4th Street). From 4th Street to Delaware Avenue, I-95 passes just to the west of downtown as it dives below the street grid. Then it flows over the Brandywine River and winds out through the Brandywine Hundred.

Thats what I meant, I forgot 495 goes around and 95 goes through.

Wilmington needs some tall buildings desperately.

Wilmington's tallest is 331 feet, which is respectable. I would like to see sdomething that's around 400 feet, and maybe something around 500 feet, however. A building that tall would stick out maybe a little too much, though.

Great photo. Wish you could say what the structure is, though.

A few miles up the Monongahela River from downtown on the Hot Metal Bridge, whose pedestrian span opened last November. Built in 1900, this bridge was designed to transport crucibles of molten steel from Jones & Laughlin's blast furnaces on one side of the river to the rolling mills on the other. Today it connects university-laden Oakland with the vibrant South Side at S. 29th St. It's extremely popular with walkers, roller bladers and bikers who use the riverfront trails on both sides of the river. The Pittsburgh Technology Park occupies the former site of the blast furnaces and the SouthSide Works mixed-use development occupies the former site of the rolling mills.

The Hot Metal Bridge is the black bridge in the foreground here. It's actually a twin span... with the span closest to viewer being a former RR span that was converted to automobile use in 2000. The u/c SouthSide Works is at left. This has been a key link in supporting these booming brownfield redevelopments.

...

here's the scene from the 80s... you can see a little bit of the Hot Metal Bridge beyond the steel mills...
