Jeff noticed this Planning application.

Very interesting- Its the site of a car park presently Just of the roundabout opposite RS.

I mentioned in another thread - but this site is meant to be turned into a garden - there's an approved application for it as part of the 2002 Heron Quay's west application. They refer to it as a 'pocket park'. And it's because of the planned park that 'Park Place' gets it's address name.

I'm convinced this won't be approved by Tower Hamlets - I never thought I'd say it, but this feels like an over-development to me! It will completely block out the dock vierw from westferry road which will be a real shame.

Im guessing it would have to fill the whole site as its really not that big and alongside park place it would create quite a wall.

145.6m to top of roof (AOD)

149.9m to top of screen (AOD)

The lower ground level for 1 Park Place is about 5.2m, so if this building is on the same level then it should be about 145m AGL. Not bad for a 37 floor resi. A building that will be as tall as Birmingham's tallest yet it won't even register on this skyline lol.

hmm seems taller than 150m, and the last image is of office space.....

if it was the Westferry residential, wouldn't the view of the City be blocked by Riverside South? Impressive triple height atrium there!

I think what he was trying to say was that the image appeared to look rather like an office, not that he was disputing if the project in question was residential or not.

Perhaps it's of another project/incarnation of same project???

oh come on jef. So soon after your comeback here and already flooding us with your unfounded predictions of doom again? What about sticking to the facts like you do so well over on skyscraperpage with your really worthwhile coverage of local project news? All that CWG publizised about RS is that they will not continue construction above ground right away after basements are finished as they will not pursue speculative development in the absence of a pre-let/sale. Something we've known as a possibility since almost a year if I remember right. It doesn't mean that it will not be built at all. You really think they do all this foundation work investments for nothing? The only question about RS is WHEN it will be built. There's no question about them wanting to expand in the future and RS is their next project in the pipeline once markets will allow that. And with CW having a let rate of 99.6% this will be rather sooner than later, no matter what market conditions we will face. Some major corporations (like so many before them during the last 10 years) gonna want new UK headquarters sooner or later and RS will be one of the top choices..

Well... tbh... It isn't built. And as such you can bet the people selling this scheme wouldn't want to plonk currently unbuilt towers into the renders that would totally dominate those fantastic views.

I really don't think Jef meant that it would never be built.

Fair comparison. Just the other day I was thinking that my house would look a lot taller if it had been built in an open field.
