Thanks so much Culwulla. Your diagrams are one of the greatest assets to this forum and we all really appreciate it.

I've just always wondered though.....why does the tip of the Spire look like that?

With all the diagrams youve accumulated, you could produce some nice animations of individual buildings with animated date markings.

Im certain your diagrams will be very useful for studying the speed of construction and get an overview of the boom we experience in general .

awesome diagram cul

btw...can you next time add the Berlin TV tower to the diagram? i know it is only 368m tall but many people saw it alreay in real live and know how tall it looks when you stand on the ground, that would show how damn tall all the other towers are!

Great job, love the diagram! As skyscraper fans we live in truly remarkable times...who could have foreseen such an explosion of supertalls even fifteen years ago?

Especially after 9/11. I really thought that day sounded the death knoll on the future of skyscraper construction. But 9/11 has only had a positive effect it seems. Super-high rises today are safer than ever before and consequently taller.

^yeah. just think 10 years ago. that drawing would be so easy to draw.
towers =2- CN tower, Ostankino tower
skyscrapers=6 -Sears Tower,John Hancock,Empire state, petronas twins, with Jin Mao uc.
now there are approx 40 skyscrapers/towers over 400m . just imagine next 10 years.

hi, im from Sydney, Australia.im a modeller for town planning dept.in charge of a large scale model of sydney which i update regualry!
ive been with the town planning now for 20 years.ive been drawing skyscrapers and compling lists since 1980, when there was no such thing as the internet.lol
very hard to find out what was happening. had to checkout latest airtravel brochures or almanac. I started to assist with guiness book of records when i told them they had some tall bldg facts wrong. ive compiled 40 cities in Emporis and added thousands of skyscrapers over past 10 years.
I used to hand draw diagrams to scale but know i use 2d drawing program. still learning its a labour of love.

Hey Culwulla...

I think you missed my question above. I'm just curious as to why the Chicago Spire has a flat "cutoff" top.
