City of George

Been trying to get some pictures of our small city on the south coast of the Western Cape, finally, here are a couple...
It's one of South Africa's most verdant cities, nick-named: Cold-And-Wet, with a population of around 150,000 and our country's golfing capital...

Fancourt Golf Estate, George

Church at the top of George's main street, York Street

George from Outenqua Pass with the Indian Ocean beyond the coastal escarpment

Herold's Bay, one of George's coastal resort "suburbs"

Wilderness, 10km south of central George

Nope! A lot of people seem to think the Garden Route is in the Eastern Cape... the Western Cape retains all the "pretty" and "genteel" places! The provincial border is about 50km east of Plettenberg Bay at the Bloukrans River Bridge. The entire Garden Route, except the eastern Tsitsikamma region is in the Western Cape.

Cape Town

From the Waterfront Marina

Evening from Bellville suburbia...

Sometimes, it even snows within city limits... well, on Table Mountain that is...

And winter (Jun-Aug) in Cape Town can be a stormy affair... (Cape of Good Hope used to be called the Cape of Storms by Portuguese navigators)
