Guangzhou, Shenzhen & Hong Kong

Its been just over a month since i came back from a little "going alone" trip of mine, this time to Guangzhou, Shenzhen and the spectacular
Hong Kong in Southern China. One word, Stunning. The best trip in my life! One of the best things was actually to go alone, especially into
Mainland China where really, really few people understood and spoke English and that sure gave me some smaller problems when all
transport broke down in Guangzhou due to the winter storm.

You'll see some of my pics from Guangzhou and Shenzhen, but mostly from Shenzhen, since Guangzhou was really rainy and cold. Just a
few pics from Hong Kong too, the few i ever took with my Olympus camera and XD card. I used my new Nikon D80 for almost all my Hong
Kong pics, since i really needed an amazing camera with wide angle and something to capture how extremly stunning Hong Kong is
during night.

But when i finally came back home my 8gig SD-card stopped function while i was taking pictures. No idea why and how, and there seem
to be no recovery program capable to recover the images as they all find 0b space on the camera. Talked to experts, and took their advise
to format the card, and hopefully manage to recover the pictures after it, since i lose the pictures on the card when i format it. Issue is
that the card refuse to get formated as well, and we have tried with several programs etc.

Still stuck, but refuse to believe the pics is gone. Maybe someday ill manage to recover them.

But here we go, the biggest city in the Guangdong province...
Guangzhou
Guangdong was a huge city, three times as big as the largest city i've been to before this! Arrived by buss (a 2 and a half hour ride),
since that was the easiest way to get there from Hong Kong Airport. The city was cold and clouded. I only had one day there, so won't give
you much of the historic downtown of the city, so ill save it to my next trip!

The Guangzhou TV Tower, about 400m tall in that picture.

Guangzhou's tallest, CITIC Plaza been 391m tall.

The two last pictures is taken outside Guangzhou East Train Station. Hard to get a overview image of the crowd, but media said the crowd
was about 500 000 trying to get into the train station when i was there. 5 hours earlier it was up to 800 000. Everybody were trying to get
home to the Chinese Newyear, but due to the storm must of the traffic was stuck from Guangzhou and north.

I was going south, which was not any problem, but i never had the chance to get into the trainstation, so i used a few hours on trying to
find an english speaking person who could tell me a buss to take to Shenzhen! After some time i managed to get to Shenzhen, where the
weather was great and i took many pics from the new CBD area.

Awarded with a "Green City" award a few years ago, this is...
Shenzhen

Then to Hong Kong, the few pics i have. Spent 1 night in Guangzhou, 1 night in Shenzhen and then 6 nights in Hong Kong, and what im left with it
about 1 hour of walking the first day i arrived in HK. Really a shame since my good pictures taken with the Nikon D80 was of HK. And HK was
really something!

One of the greatest cities on Earth...
Hong Kong
Just a few pics i took the day i arrived in HK, pics from North Point.

Thats it! Would love to show you some quality shots from Hong Kong, but looks like i will have to do another trip to HK to do so, and i will
someday, HK rocks!! But before i settle this thread ill show you a few pics taken from 10 000m over half this world!

This should look familiar to most N&B'er!

Somewhere over Northern China.

Ulan Bator, capital of Mongolia.

Hope you enjoyed the thread, though my pics didn't do it for me this time, sorry!

^ No, i was there during the winter storm, so i did not get any further north than Guangzhou, where everything stopped. Was on the Guangzhou East Railroad station and joined some 500 000 people waiting to get a train.

Thanks for sharing,Qazac.

Guangzhou got some really nice buildings during recent years.

Shenzhen somehow looks rich.

HK's nightview is no longer stunning as before?

Thanks! Oo, you remember who i used to be too!

HK's nightview is totally amazing, extremly stunning! Took loads of photos of HK during with my much better camera, but all the pics are in my unworking SD card. Thats why i don't manage to show the best of HK.

Nice shots!

Have you tried to use recovery software on the card? It's extremely annoying to lose pics.

As i said in the into text, yes, Tried some 6 different recovery programs. Also tried to format the card, hoping to recover them after, but the card refuses to get formated of some strange reason.

^ Street looks like chaos, and it is, but it works better than anywhere else, especially traffic etc.

Great pix! These cities change so much in a few years so it's really worthwhile to revisit them. Too bad the rest of your HK pictures didn't turn out... but the most important thing is that you made it there safely and I'm the sure the memories are great!

No. Our traffic problem is immense, and yes, our streets look terrible. But there we have the best downtown than anywhere else, except perhaps Tokyo.

Not surprising, though the week i was there it seemed like traffic was running better than many other cities i've been too, but thats probably because it was in the middel of the Newyear holidays, therefore no rush hours etc. Streets are really tiny and doesn't suport bigger traffic, at least not on HK island and outside the highways.
