...and what's with that Ferris wheel? Why does every European city have to have one? I think they are ugly. I hate the London eye. They should have made a giant pendulum or teeter-tater, it would have been more interesting.

No, it's a glass „sheet”.

Opening date is set at 2013 now.

that interior perspective of the central shopping multiple level glass gallery looks wayyy too much like the vasco da gamma shopping center in lisbon....recycling ideas heavily, arent they?!

Are you kidding me? The entire lot looks totally detached and alienated from the "great bourgeois houses". What it could possibly ruin is beyond me. This project is great for making the unfinished Radio House and nearby ceaușist apartments fit in well with, well, anything.

Why does the thread title say U/C. It's obviously not.

I beg to differ. Just zoom in all the way and have a look from bird's eye. You may notice several (many?) private properties "conveniently" left out of the rendering, just neighboring to the north-west. On the same plot. I'm sure all those people are quite happy with the huge buildings blocking the sunlight from their homes. To answer your question, it shall ruin the life of all those people living there. Some of those dwellings are up to 3 stories high.

I don't like the fact that almost every rendering I see from Bucharest leaves out exactly the areas and buildings it affects the most.

The article says that one of the companies in the group of Plaza Centers has suspended its activity. But the company denied vehemently that this means to abandon the project. In fact, the head of the Plaza Centers projects in Romania said they are going ahead with Dambovita Center and other projects (he actually said they invested 100 mill Eur already and it'd be nuts to give it up). Currently, for Dambovita Center, they need some additional permitting and additional finacing sources. On the website of the project, Dambovita Center is reported as U/C, but there is currently no move on the yard.
